The new report from the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Olivier De Schutter, illuminates how an economy based on GDP and growth is a failed approach that we can change. Economic system reform is one of the most important areas of thought, policy, and action that we can engage in for a better future. “Our fixation with ‘growthism’ is short-sighted and is only making the rich richer while devastating the world’s life support systems...GDP and our addiction to consumerism have become dangerous distractions from what is actually important: people’s ability to lead a decent life on a liveable planet. That means guaranteeing a set of fundamental rights to all, including access to social services and the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.” -- Oliver De Schutter Click to read the overview article with a link to the full report embedded. https://lnkd.in/gEnibeaC
