As a nation, we must #InspireInclusionInPolitics by promoting gender parity and eliminating cultural and social barriers that prevent women from assuming leadership positions. World Future Policy Award 2024 : Finalist Spotlight 1. Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (2017) Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP), focuses on promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. Its feminist approach addresses systemic gender inequalities, engages men and boys, and fosters inclusive participation. The policy has been implemented in countries like Afghanistan (supporting women’s rights and economic empowerment), Iraq (establishing centres for survivors of sexual violence), Senegal (empowering women in agriculture), and Cambodia (improving food security through climate-resilient agriculture). The FIAP’s influence extends to international development policies, contributing to sustainable peace and security initiatives. As Canada approaches its 2025 elections, continued support for policies like FIAP, which promote gender equality and peace, remains crucial. Redefining Prevention Programs through Gender-Sensitive Solutions. Prevention strategies must address the root causes of GBV to create long-term change. To effectively prevent GBV, international NGOs need to adopt new gender-sensitive programs that educate refugees and host communities about gender equality, empower women economically, and engage men and boys as allies. Camps like Dadaab and Kakuma (Kenya) have seen success by integrating GBV prevention within livelihood and education programs, offering practical and sustainable solutions. 📖 Reference: [Save the Children - Dadaab GBV Assessment](https://lnkd.in/dJGhEmww) | [UN SDG Goal 5](https://lnkd.in/dzV3MY6M) #GBVPrevention #GenderEquality #Dadaab #LivelihoodPrograms

Happy #InternationalWomensDay 2024! 🚺 March 8 is a day to celebrate women’s achievements but also to raise awareness about discrimination and gender inequality. The theme of this year is #InspireInclusion. 🤝 How are we inspiring inclusion in our work at #WE4D? GIZ’s regional programme “employment promotion for women for the green transformation in Africa – WE4D” aims to empower women and promotes diversity by improving women’s employment opportunities and strengthening the economic situation in sub-Saharan African countries. 📈 🌍 Wondering how we do this in practice? ✅ We support favorable framework conditions for women that they can thrive in all professions irrespective of gender. ✅ We try to sensitize and support companies to diversify their workforce to take actions for systematic change. ✅ We support women entrepreneurs and their individual needs especially, in green sectors. How will you #InspireInclusion in your environment? Share your comments below! 📢 The WE4D programme is commissioned by BMZ, in partnership with the EU and Norad and implemented by GIZ.
