Our team at P3 Polska recently attended the AHK conference in Silesia, Poland, focusing on the automotive industry. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with representatives from leading automotive companies in the region and engage in stimulating discussions on critical industry trends and challenges. One of the key takeaways from the conference was the emphasis on the rapid development of infrastructure, particularly the importance of strategically planned charging stations. The new AFIR regulation in Poland aims to establish fast-charging and hydrogen fueling stations along major EU transport corridors, with significant funding of over 200 million EUR allocated by NFOŚIGW to this initiative. The session on heavy transport electrification highlighted the complexity of decarbonization in this sector. Electric drives are proving effective in public transport and municipal services, but long-haul transport faces ongoing challenges. The debate underscored the need for tailored solutions for different types of transport operations. A notable discussion point was the competitive pressure from Asian firms on European suppliers. To counter this, European companies need to focus on increasing productivity, adopting automation, and investing in innovation. Strengthening these areas can help maintain a competitive edge in the global market. Overall, the conference provided valuable insights into the future of the automotive industry, highlighting the need for innovative approaches and strategic investments to navigate the evolving landscape successfully. We are excited to apply these learnings and continue contributing to the advancement of the industry. #P3 #P3Polska #Automotive #AHK

■ “If we manage to streamline how we regulate, creating more manageable implementation timelines, synchronised with the industrial production cycle, this can be a game changer – and it’s in the hands of the Commission!” – Luca de Meo, President of ACEA At the Politico Competitive Europe Summit, Luca de Meo emphasised that competitiveness is back on the European agenda, driven by the Draghi report. The automotive sector, like many others, is grappling with unprecedented challenges. It’s clear that a strong European response is needed. As Luca de Meo remarked, “Those who’ve set the rules have just not set the market conditions!” By 2030, the automotive industry will need to comply with over 130 regulations covering safety, emissions, energy, materials, data, and security requirements. A large chunk of the industry’s R&D investments goes to compliance. This significant investment is happening at a time when we should be focusing on ramping up innovation. At ACEA, we are proposing a fresh approach to regulation based on three key principles: 1️⃣ Group regulations affecting the sector into batches 2️⃣ Apply new regulations only to new types, not retro-actively 3️⃣ Perform a consistency check before any legislative proposal, potentially through a One-Stop Shop within the Commission, to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and no loopholes exist Our industry is fully committed to the zero-emission transition, but the necessary enabling conditions— charging infrastructure, purchase incentives, a competitive manufacturing framework and so much more—are still lacking. #ACEA #Automotive #Motorindustry #Autonews #Renault
