Did you know that smallholder farmers produce 1/3 of all food worldwide? In low- and middle-income countries, they even contribute to over half of the food consumed. 🌽🫘🍚 Despite their critical role, many smallholder farmers struggle due to a lack of local services and support. Jose, a farmer from Central America, understands these difficulties well, having faced them himself. Today, he is able to share valuable knowledge and best practices, as well as provide services at the local level. To discover more about Jose's efforts in aiding smallholder farmers in his region of Honduras, watch the video. A big thank you to Jose and all farmers globally for their essential contributions to our food supply. 💚 #TeamBayer #innovation

WFMC was created to promote local food distribution systems, such as farmers markets, by breaking down the barriers that still hinder farmers from selling their products directly in an organized manner. This phenomenon affects not only the global south but also, and especially, the more industrialized northern hemisphere. On World Cities Day, established by the United Nations, it is fitting to celebrate cities that are courageously developing urban food policies favorable to the consumption of local food. Through networks of farmers markets that enliven neighborhoods, we will work with these cities to make local systems grow further more. #MilanUrbanFoodPolicy #CittàdiRoma #WorldCityDay #CiboLocale #PoliticheDelCibo #Sostenibilità #FarmersMarkets #WorldFarmersMarketsCoalition #WorldFMC Fondazione Campagna Amica

Every year on 16 October, we celebrate World Food Day, a global event organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) encouraging governments, institutions, and individuals to unite in the global fight against hunger and food insecurity. 👉One of the critical components of this effort is empowering people with knowledge, to raise awareness about the global challenges of food security and sustainability and drive changes. A principle that resonates with CIHEAM's mission: 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆, 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆

It might seem simple… sit on a panel and share insights. But let’s not forget the importance of a producer and Ugandan leader being positioned as an expert in “market access.” This is truly a challenge of the status quo, and the industry is better for it. Solutions by the source, for the source. This is where we find innovation in coffee.
Exciting insights unfolded during last week's Panel Discussion on 'Strategies for Better Market Access,' where Kenneth, alongside Yanina Ferreyra and Gilles Brunner, shared their expertise. Led by Sara Morrocchi, the dialogue provided a nuanced understanding of global market dynamics. The experience marks a significant step for Uganda and Mountain Harvest, showcasing our commitment to transforming the narrative for smallholder farmers. Let's continue forging meaningful connections in the coffee industry! 🌐🚀 #MarketAccess #CoffeeBusiness #MountainHarvest
