Looking back, my early career confusion saw me taking the CLAT and CAT exams without proper self-assessment of my strengths and interests. Yes, you heard it right!! I tried CLAT, a law exam just after my 12th and started preparing for CAT in my 2nd year of college. Now, you may be asking yourself, "Why are all these exams going at once, and for completely different professions?" The answer to this question was unknown to me when I was trying for all those examinations. Now, however, I realise that it was all due to the lack of support and direction in 2020 when I had just graduated from high school. Being the eldest, I was accountable for all my decisions without anyone to guide me through this process. I was not well-informed about the various professional options available to me, so my parents made all of the decisions. My parents advised me to pursue a career in law as I was so talkative and enjoyed debating on almost every subject that intrigued me. So, I took a 2-month crash course and went for CLAT but couldn't clear it. After that, I went for CAT in my 2nd year of college as these were the most common options available for those who were unsure about their choices in life. I tried for the CAT but my math was too weak so I couldn't clear it that too and ended up scoring 75 percentile. Because I had no guidance, I chose a hit-and-trial approach for choosing my career. I don't think it's bad to try and struggle between options, but you should give time to yourself and consider your strengths and weaknesses, get advice from others if you're unsure, and then decide what's best for you. Making these crucial decisions purely for the sake of doing so will not benefit you. So, don't be afraid to explore different paths until you find the right one that aligns with your interest. "Every struggle has a lesson hidden in it." Always remember this while you put in the hard effort and have faith in yourself. Another FEBS Education and Training Committee meeting has come to an end. It’s truly inspiring to share passions and ideas with such incredible people, all united in the mission to create opportunities for future generations to grasp – opportunities for a better world that we are all striving to build. Suddenly, I find myself in a cab heading to the airport, wrapped in self-reflection. I’m recalling these past few days filled with freedom, beautiful smiles, passionate dreams, and the almost childlike sparkles in the eyes of these amazing individuals from all across FEBS, from all over Europe. But then, a familiar feeling creeps in, and a nostalgic smile forms on my face. My thoughts drift back to everyday life: Did I close the windows? I must water my plants tonight. Do I have any milk for tomorrow's morning coffee? Oh, and don’t forget about beer night with friends tomorrow! And just like that, a quiet laugh fills the space around me.
