Sr. Director of Business Development at Hargrove Engineers + Constructors | Author (Cracks in the Wall) | Motivational/Inspirational Speaker
Breaking Walls – Building Legacy…what a powerful message to latch on to for 2024 and beyond! “Thank you” Integra LifeSciences and Black Employees United at Integra for Leadership and Development (B.U.I.L.D) for having me as your 2024 keynote speaker! It was another life-altering #BlackHistoryMonth event that focused squarely on this year’s theme and my book Cracks in the Wall by Ronnie Stallworth www.cracksinthewall.net. READ THIS ALL-POSITIVE APPROACH! My message was primarily about Breaking “internal/self-erected” walls that prevent us from reaching our next level of growth (read that again). My biggest walls were internal!! For example, I was born into poverty; however, I found ways to Break Walls (with the help of others in many cases) by focusing internally on things that I had control over. For Building Legacy, I focused on personal and purposeful actions that any of us can do to be remembered as someone who left our family and others “set up for success” (not saddled with generational debt). For example, my dad left me with a lot of his wisdom; however, he didn’t have life insurance, a Will, or appreciable monetary inheritance. I can personally leave a legacy for my family and others if I didn't do anything beyond these four things (including sharing my wisdom). All four are “my responsibility” and things I can do by focusing internally on what I have control over. Don’t misunderstand me, external factors and biases ARE real; however, by focusing internally "first", we can mitigate the impact of many external factors on our lives! My alternative was, spending a lifetime focusing on things that I had little or no control over! Remember, focus internally FIRST! #breakingwalls #buildinglegacy #hiddengems #gemseekers #cracksinthewall
In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, Integra’s employee resource group formally unveiled their new name of Black Employees United at Integra for Leadership and Development (B.U.I.L.D). This new name has special significance and coincides with this year’s theme of ‘Breaking Walls, Building Legacy’. Thank you to everyone who participated in our event to help celebrate and learn about the advances of African Americans who were able to help BUILD a legacy for themselves and all Black Americans. A very special thank you to our guest speaker, Ronnie Stallworth, Sr. who shared his personal and poignant journey and challenged us as professionals to do more to make a difference and BUILD despite the cracks in the walls around us. #Integrainspired

SPEAKER FOR HIRE: BLACK FUTURE MONTH For the last four years, I have spent time and energy amplifying and recommending several speakers for organisations for October, which is Black History Month. I am switching it up this year and focusing just on me. But with a difference. I am available for hire for organisations who want to hire a speaker of Black heritage to speak to on success. Both for the present and the future I speak about 🎤 inclusive leadership - what it is and how it can be leveraged 🎤 workplace culture - especially on resilience and antifragility 🎤 business storytelling - creating narratives, data storytelling and how you can create stories beyond the usual Hero's Journey and other Global North frames 🎤 self leadership - shaping success on your terms and with your squad And will tailor it to the audience of those Brits of Black Heritage in the UK and their supporters. As a pan-African I am consciously aware of our past and many of the challenges that has impacted our community, but I am also asset based and future focused on what are the mindsets, methods and mastery we need to have professional and business success. So if you are an organisation, business resource group or any other group with a decent budget and a desire to actually listen to presentations that can help to move the needle forward on success for those of Black heritage feel free to holla at me. And not just for October but heck we need to start somewhere right? In full transparency, my fee starts at £10,000 + VAT. It's an investment. If you want to find the money you will, if you want to know how I have helped others collaborate to afford me in the past I can show you how. It's not rocket science. And the content is all about you, not how I won a medal, climbed a mountain, appeared on reality TV or wanting to upsell a course. This is about your success. That's it. Over to you.

I can't begin to tell you how proud I am to work for this organization. When I took the on-boarding training, there were several diversity and bias segments that were so well done & unlike any training I'd ever seen before in such a large organization. Never before had I witnessed such mindful and thoughtful training with interactive sessions to help me question my biases and teach me better communication and questioning skills. Not only does New York Life take care of its clients and policyowners, but it takes care of the people who care for them, too. When you take care of your people, it's good business for everyone. #diversityequityinclusion #diversity #equity #inclusion #bias #training #traininganddevelopment #employeesmatter #clientsuccess #employeesuccess #careforgood #goodbusinessmatters #goodbusiness
David Tate, CLU co-chair of New York Life’s Black Organization for Leadership and Development (BOLD) employee resource group shares how New York Life fosters diversity by valuing unique cultural perspectives and building inclusive community.

Tech People Leader + Certified Professional Integrative Coach | Driving Impact, Empowering Growth, and Maximizing Talent
Last week, I had the privilege of attending the National Black MBA Association Conference in Washington, D.C., and it was extraordinary! It was a week filled with professional development, meaningful networking, and events by and for Black professionals, all centered on "Driving Excellence, Empowering Transformation: AFFIRM 2024.” Standout moments: ✨ Connection – While our careers grow through hard work (and luck), the relationships we nurture along the way are just as critical. It's clear that the power of connection goes beyond business—it's about community. 🎤 Entrepreneurs pitching their ideas in a competition was a true reminder of the innovation and brilliance in our community. 🖤 The richness of Black culture and the affirmation of Black history, traditions, and contributions were celebrated at every turn. 🧠 Workshops on strategic thinking and self-care offered practical tools to empower us to be intentional about our growth, both personally and professionally. Key takeaways: ✨ Maintain intellectual curiosity and always “know your stuff.” ✨ Be clear about who you are—don’t blend in; stand out with authenticity. ✨ Affirm yourself - your knowledge, expertise, and unique strengths matter. ✨ Never shrink yourself - your authentic self is enough, and your differentiators are your superpowers. This experience was a beautiful reminder to never give up what makes me unique. I am “built different,” and that is my strength. I'm excited to take these lessons forward, continuing to grow, inspire, and lead with authenticity and purpose. #NBMBAA #BlackExcellence #Leadership #Authenticity #StrategicMindset #ExecutivePresence

One of the missions of the Black Leadership Group is to empower Black talent. During our initial launch of the Black Leadership Job Board, Robin Landman OBE CCMI, discussed that organisations can seem reluctant to seek out Black talent even though there is no shortage of it. Organisations need to remember that Black individuals don’t want to be the only person in a leadership team, they need to remember that Black individuals don’t want to be the sole representation in a leadership team; they need assurance that their selection is based on merit, not just diversity quotas.

🌟 Welcoming Black History Month with a Lens on Leadership and Learning 🌟 February marks a time of reflection and celebration for the invaluable contributions African Americans have made to the arts and beyond. This Black History Month, our focus is on deepening our understanding of key issues, starting with White Fragility, and how they intersect with leadership and inclusivity in the workplace. As someone committed to leadership development, I recognize the importance of confronting and understanding my own biases and privileges. The arts, a realm profoundly enriched by African American creativity, offer a powerful medium for exploring these complex themes. 📚 My journey this month includes immersing myself in pivotal works like "White Fragility" by Robin DiAngelo, aiming to foster a more inclusive leadership style and organizational culture. Leadership Tip: Embrace vulnerability by acknowledging what you don't know and commit to learning. Action Step: Initiate open dialogues within your teams about diversity and inclusion. Use art as a starting point for these conversations. Call to Action: Support African American artists and thinkers. Let their work inspire your leadership and organizational practices. This month, let's pledge to not only celebrate but also actively learn from the rich cultural heritage and contributions of African Americans. How will you incorporate these learnings into your leadership journey? #BlackHistoryMonth #LeadershipDevelopment #InclusiveLeadership #ContinuousLearning #ArtAsInspiration 🎭✨
