Great to hear this story from Keith Fraser. It is definitely something to reflect on when we’re writing current operating procedures and policies. How will they be viewed in 30 years time? How will we reflect on the use of pain inducing techniques in the youth justice system in 30 years? We don’t have a crystal ball but we do have innovative and up to date research with which to base our policies and practice on. If PAVA is approved for use in the Youth Criminal Justice System, how will this be viewed in the future?

#statement from a #futurist #thinker Outstanding share, and I fully agree. As someone with lived experience. Being understood for the environment we are coming from and surviving in is so important for #police understanding. Not in a means as being more risk adverse but rather in a #traumainformed manner and further, solution based approach to changing the pattern of long term #offending behaviour, which inturn costs the #government and tax payer millions per offender. Building a rapport and finding meaningful solutions to the adversity the young person might be facing, which is causing the anti-social behaviour to me is far more important, that the current model of building more #prisons, while taking no responsibility for the conditions sone are made to live in. This model has far more #risks, not only to future offending behaviour but the safety to staff within those sectors as well as the #community and its members

CAD: 6941/21Dec23 At on 21st December, there was an assault on a group of Jewish people in North West London on the bridge between Chalk Farm and Primrose Hill. The group of five were putting up posters showing the faces of people taken hostage by Hamas terrorists. One of the members was an identifiably Jewish woman who wore a Star of David. The alleged assailant is described as being between the age of 18-21. At one point, he is said to have yelled: “F***ing Zionists pieces of s***, I hate Zionists.” This was a horrendous unprovoked attack that left victims in need of medical attention.
