✨ FUN FACT FRIDAY! ✨ Our global fleet of around 220 aircraft includes 15 A109 Leonardo Helicopters 🚁 We are big fans of this aircraft, which we operate in both Spain and Italy. ❓But did you know the A109 is also known as the “Ferrari of the skies”? 👉 The A109 earned this nickname for two reasons: 1) ⚡ Speed: it’s incredibly fast, making it a reliable choice for urgent and efficient transportation. 2) 🏎 F1 Connection: a special model was built for Ferrari. This helicopter was used by the Maranello F1 team for transferring drivers and was a favourite of Michael Schumacher in the 2000s. Though that specific model is no longer operational, the legacy of the A109 continues to soar in our fleet. 🚗✈️ Could there be a Volvo Cars Draken or Gripen in the future? Renault did revive the Secret History of the Rafale Name with Its New SUV In a nod to its aeronautical past, Renault is set to unveil the new Rafale SUV at the International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget this June. This name, which became legendary with Dassault Aviation's fighter jet, originally belonged to Renault since 1934 (see: https://lnkd.in/d4qnVBjZ ). Few know that the illustrious Rafale name, associated with defense aviation, has been Renault’s for nearly a century. A spokesperson from Renault shared, "This name has belonged to Renault since 1934, and an agreement of co-existence was signed with Dassault." Renault's history with aviation dates back to the early 20th century when it adapted its engines for trains and planes (Note: same with Volvo Group, see: https://lnkd.in/dUth7utU ). In 1933, Louis Renault acquired Caudron and created Caudron-Renault, developing aircraft named after winds: the C460 Rafale, C500 Simoun, C640 Typhon, and C714 Cyclone. The Rafale, a sporty single-seater, became a star in 1934, with pilot Hélène Boucher setting speed records. Renault’s communiqué highlights, "Today, Renault once again connects with its history, leveraging the legacy of the legendary Caudron Rafale." An original Rafale aircraft will be showcased alongside the new SUV at the International Paris Air Show. Dassault Aviation, inspired by winds, named its first jet fighter 'Ouragan.' By the late 70s, Dassault embarked on a new aircraft project, going solo in 1985, and launching the Rafale program in 1988, named by Marcel Dassault with the ambition of creating "the best aircraft in the world." Whether Marcel Dassault was inspired by Renault remains a mystery. At the time, Renault hadn't been privatized, possibly easing the name's adoption. Today, the Renault Rafale SUV arrives amicably, with a logo that nods to Dassault's emblem, symbolizing a shared legacy for France. 🌟✈️ Air Serbia passengers were very lucky yesterday despite the Embraer 195 hitting airport infrastructure during takeoff. Flight JU324, operated by Marathon (Reg OY-GDC), lined up at runway 30L from taxiway D5, leaving less than 1300m of runway for takeoff.
