At Faber Group we strive for nothing less than perfection when it comes to sustainability. Even though we are already taking on a pioneering role in terms of reducing CO2 emissions, we believe one can always do better. This is why the Faber Group has set the goal of becoming a „net zero“ company by the year 2024. How will PAKi contribute to achieving this goal? PAKi has already had great success with various sustainability initiatives which we will continue to improve and dedicate to. For example, our „Empty Run Prevention“ initiative makes sure that transport capacity is used optimally which helps to reduce carbon footprint of transport. In addition, PAKi‘s „Best Match“ initiative uses a decision-making algorithm for the selection of the optimal matches of orders and releases. This helps to plan the route optimisation in advance in the most sustainable way. What’s in it for PAKi‘s customers? As PAKi becomes more sustainable, our customers also become more sustainable. In current uncertain times, it is increasingly important to build and redesign stable networks in logistics in order to be able to maintain a certain level of resilience in the business. For this reason, we at thyssenkrupp Uhde strive to massively pursue the end-to-end approach and shape our processes together with our partners. Only through transparency, collaboration and the continuous striving of all partners for constant and joint improvement processes in project logistics could be significantly improved. Business in the EPC plant sector and the resulting supply chains are becoming increasingly complex, so that an all-encompassing logistics solution will be more required. The logistical challenges must be orchestrated in a circular model in order to be constantly flexible. We have some great news! We did the numbers and our sustainability report clearly shows: PAKi has increased its CO2 emissions. How can this be considered a good thing, you ask? Well, PAKi itself and its entire core and system is founded on sustainability. Our open pooling system inherently fosters a continuous decrease in carbon emissions. Therefore, the more we grow, the fewer emissions are caused overall. In concrete terms, this means that everytime a customer chooses us over a one-way pallet system, emissions are effectively reduced. We are proud to say that as a company we continue to expand. More PAKi customers equal more pooling trips. While this may increase PAKi’s own carbon footprint short-term, it actually decreases CO2 emissions worldwide in the long run – which is the ultimate goal, of course! This is how we carry impact. A new compliance has come in... Guess what? The "Ecomark"! And every product wanting to have an Ecomark on it needs to submit an annual report by 31 May disclosing the product's source of raw materials, production processes, disposal methods, consumption of energy etc. Ecomark helps identify the products that are sustainable. Hope this really works in preserving the ecosystem, rather than just getting the products greenwashed.
