Today starts a multi-day organizing training with 75 grassroots community leaders from 7 states. This training brings together people striving to build accountable power to be able meaningfully shape and participate in democracy on a local, state and even national level. This will be an opportunity for people to reflect on their own leadership and learn from one another. Often the best potential community leaders shy away from leadership because the model of leadership held up in our society is too often that of a domination, or celebrity. The best leaders do not seek the spotlight and refuse to exert influence by fear. The best leaders influence and are influenced by relationships built on trust. Looking forward to centering this higher form of leadership over the next few days and inviting more people to take action in their own communities. May there be numerous victories that flow where the people can say "WE DID IT!"

A couple of years ago, I had the privilege of participating, and it stands out as one of the most transformative experiences I've had. With a cherished leadership charter with its own six values, the group learned how to: 1. Be clear on what to do (break the board with your hand) 2. Know how to do it (learn & understand the safe way to achieve this) 3. Develop purpose & maintain focus (it's about resolve, NOT power) 4. Support, support, support (become a cheerleader for your team) 5. FOLLOW THROUGH!
