Check out our latest policy brief authored by CAIR Coalition Senior Attorney F. Evan Benz, “Community-Based Case Management Programs: A True Alternative to ICE’s Harmful Surveillance Programs.” https://lnkd.in/eQm6ZmtK This policy brief explores the harmful impacts of ICE’s Alternatives to Detention (ATD) programs. ATD includes electronic surveillance using ankle monitors and other forms of GPS monitoring to track non-detained immigrants. In our work, CAIR Coalition has seen the serious harm caused by these programs. Instead of funding ICE’s surveillance programs, true alternatives to detention should be available to asylum-seekers and other immigrants in the U.S.

📢 New Ad Hoc Query on alternatives to detention ⛓ In the migration context, detention is permitted and regulated by a strict European legislative framework. Recognising the severity of the measure against the right to liberty and in order to enhance the safeguards for vulnerable persons, Member States rely increasingly on alternatives to detention, which are considered to be less resource-intensive, less intrusive for the individual, and more effective at reducing pressure on national detention systems. 🤔 Which alternatives to detention are most commonly used by Member States? How effective are they? What challenges remain in implementing them? 👉 Our colleagues at European Migration Network (EMN) Czech Republic launched this query to find out more. See all the results here: https://lnkd.in/eXcrbyYc 💡 If you're interested in this topic, check out the European Migration Network Study on detention and alternatives to detention, including the Belgian standalone: https://lnkd.in/ewxSeimx

Palestinian - Human Rights Consultant - Researcher & Policy Analyst - Advocacy - Capacity Development - LLM - I post to share human rights information and analysis. Reposting does not mean endorsement
A number of UN experts condemn exploding communication devices by #Israel in #Lebanon. “These attacks violate the human right to life, absent any indication that the victims posed an imminent lethal threat to anyone else at the time” the expert say. They add “Simultaneous attacks by thousands of devices would inevitably violate humanitarian law, by failing to verify each target, and distinguish between protected civilians and those who could potentially be attacked for taking a direct part in hostilities. Such attacks could constitute war crimes of murder, attacking civilians, and launching indiscriminate attacks, in addition to violating the right to life,” #Israel #Lebanon #Palestine #humanrights #internationallaw #IHL #EndIsraeliOccupation #CeaseFireNOW

I join other UN experts in condemning “exploding pagers” in Lebanon as terrifying violations of international law, including war crimes against civilians, and calling for de-escalation https://lnkd.in/gnnVFtXp

🗓 On July 17 we mark the World Day for International Justice. This day unites all those who wish to support justice, promote victims’ rights, and help prevent crimes that threaten the peace, security and well-being of the world. ✒ Among the most important goals for #ERADICATINGII is to improve the capacity of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, labour inspectors and first-line practitioners to detect, identify, protect and refer victims of labour trafficking for support and care. ✔ Helping shape the legal framework and support victims of human trafficking will increase the number of identified victims of labour trafficking, especially among vulnerable groups such as women, children and Ukrainian refugees, as well as to increase the number of investigation and prosecutions at EU level. #EndHumanTrafficking #HumanRights #SocialJustice #WorldDay #InternationalJustice #ERAFICATINGII #trafficking #lawenforcement #victimprotection #combatingtrafficking

American Citizen and Educator with much to learn. Advocate of Truth. Passionate about Students - Mission Minded - Servant Leader - Teacher at Heart / Reminded daily to put on Eph 6:10-18.
Policy: Mass amnesty for the 20+ million illegal migrants. (?) This policy reveal unfolds 39 days before the election. How many more illegal migrants can be squeezed into the U.S. before election day? And what about Citizenship? As they rush to process them, can they get them registered to vote before the deadlines and break the law again by allowing them to vote without the proper vetting? Wait for the exceptions that will be announced and inaccurate and biased reporting which will be parroted by the main stream media groups. The FBI Director recently said we are under an increased terrorist threat level. This is due to the hundreds, maybe thousands, of terrorists who were ushered in to the U.S. Increased in chatter and intel shows the threat. Also, check out the true crime numbers. What was reported by Harris was not fact checked during the Debate. 38%+/- of all law enforcement agencies did not report or share crime data. Several cities were missing, too. It appears that Trump was correct. The first Harris trip to the border in 3+ years will happen today. This strategy is meant to boost the campaign numbers so the candidate will appear concerned. Many think this last minute appearance is disingenuous. * * Disclaimer: This post and content with video report is for educational purposes.
