This new state-of-the-art granular sludge based ANAMMOX 2.0 has been successfully applied in the municipal sector with projects leads in Spain, Netherlands and Germany. N2O emission in biological wastewater treatment is generally attributed to ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and heterotrophic denitrification (HDN). As anammox bacteria are known not to emit any N2O, these bacteria have the potential in playing an important role in mitigation of GHG emission from biological wastewater treatment systems. The new improved ANAMMOX 2.0 biomass retention system promotes the formation of dense highly concentrated anammox granular biomass and selectively washes out any undesired flocculent biomass.

Belgian firm BIO INX has released a new vat polymerization DLP resin for bioprinting, derived from gelatin methacrylamide (Gel-MA) and naturally sourced from collagen. The resin was developed by Ghent University and is highly biocompatible and easy to process, but a little expensive. Joris Peels reports.
