The Power of Volunteerism: A Path to Growth Assalamu Alaikum, Dear Youth of Pakistan, Have you ever noticed how we easily spend hours on activities that bring no real value, like watching trivial events unfold? Yet, when it comes to dedicating time to a good cause or volunteer work, we hesitate. We spend 8 to 9 hours on our phones daily, but can’t commit a few hours to something meaningful? It’s time to reflect on these double standards and think about how we can change. Volunteering isn’t just a noble act; it helps you grow, learn, and contribute to a better society. It's a win-win! In many countries, being a volunteer is seen as a great asset. When someone introduces themselves as a volunteer or social activist, they are respected for their contribution to society. Unfortunately, in our culture, people sometimes belittle volunteers, thinking they "do nothing" or work for free. We need to change this mindset. It is not just about worldly rewards; it’s a moral duty. Our religion teaches us to help those in need and uplift others. Even if you don’t have money or resources, you can still support someone emotionally, offer a kind word, or give encouragement. While speaking with Professor Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, he shared a powerful thought: "Governments can’t do everything. People must step up and take responsibility." He reminded us from the book Awaaz-e-Dost, where it says,. that nations are rewarded with great leaders only when people themselves rise to the challenge. When people don’t actively participate or improve, those leaders are taken away from them. During a conversation with Dr. Rubina Farooq Shaukat, former Vice Chancellor of GCU Faisalabad, she shared a valuable lesson she learned from her time in China: "If you are not intelligent, then work hard." This reflects a common belief in China that hard work is the key to success, not just intelligence. Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, a professor at Beijing University and an economist, offered another critical insight: "If we change our attitudes and adopt a sense of responsibility, we will be well on our way to achieving our goals." Volunteering offers rewards not just in this world but also in the thereafter. It enhances your communication, teamwork, and emotional intelligence. Volunteering is also an opportunity to develop leadership qualities. The youth of Pakistan have immense potential, but they must channel their energy in the right direction. As the great philosopher Allama Iqbal said: درد دل کے واسطے پیدا کیا انسان کو ورنہ طاعت کے لیے کچھ کم نہ تھے کروبیاں This is our purpose—to serve, to help, and to uplift others. I urge you to take the first step by dedicating time to a social cause. Join us at Unsung Achievers, where we’re working to make a real difference. Watch my speech at Shahkam Industries and see how and why you can contribute to our platform. Pakistan Zindabad https://lnkd.in/eEf6FuJk

Advocating Together for Missionaries - Do we realize a missionary is not very much different than us? They eat, sleep, go to work, interact with people, etc. However, they navigate this in a different culture, eat different foods, and initially struggle with communicating in a new language. The missionary needs more than financial support. They need spiritual support in the form of prayer. They need rest and refreshment as they face many difficulties in their work. They need the care of the home team. There has been a growing awareness over the last decades that missionaries often succumb to the stresses of their new environments. "Member care" describes the help needed by and given to missionaries. Although there are programs and locations around the world, there are not enough and most are booked out months and even years in advance. Our Vision to Help - Missionary training gives an expectation that things will be different and cross-cultural adjustments need to be made. Upon returning, even after as little as six months, they find they have changed and their familiar "home" has changed. Many times this leads to real culture shock. They need help from a home team. They need a place where they can come for conversation and prayer or to discuss critical issues in their lives or ministries. Realizing the value of a "soft landing place" upon reentry to the US sparked a dream. This has launched us on the journey into being member care providers and working to establish a place to Rest, Recover and Refocus. Over the past three years, we have been supporting retreat stays with scholarship money. This is sooooo exciting for us! As of September first, we have helped host more than 20 people in this way. Feedback from guests served has been positive. Time spent relaxing, enjoying God's great outdoors, looking into God's word, and praying and processing events with the hosts have been well received by all. They report being refreshed to go forward in their work. We believe the small amounts we have given help us to continue meeting our mission statement. It is a way we can help as we are seeking out our own location. Consider joining our prayer team as we work to establish a retreat house. You can sign up at our Prayvine link. bit.ly/Pray4Ms

What are service missions and how do they differ from teaching missions? Launched in January 2019, service missions provided a whole new opportunity for young adults who needed to stay home for various reasons. Still, others fill teaching missions and typically get sent far from home. Learn more about service missions below. https://lnkd.in/ddumTed2 #missionaries #lds #jesuschrist #spokane #religion
