The Atlantic City Revitalization Grant Program, a $19.65 million pilot program, will utilize American Rescue Plan State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to fund capital projects in Atlantic City, ensuring that local neighborhoods are directly supported, according to an announcement from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) board. Eligible projects must address a negative impact of COVID-19 and contribute to Atlantic City’s revitalization. Knoxville, Tennessee, has secured a $42.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the largest federal grant in the city's recent history. The funding will be used to enhance connectivity between East Knoxville and other areas, with the aim of making downtown and South Knoxville's urban wilderness more accessible to East Knoxville residents through improved transportation options such as walking, biking, and other forms of transit. The project will involve creating over 10 miles of connective infrastructure, including greenways and multi-modal pathways, in seven phases. This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on transportation by improving access to key areas, addressing historical disparities, and promoting inclusive development. It also underscores the importance of investing in transportation infrastructure to foster community connectivity and mobility. #Knoxville #Transportation #Infrastructure #Funding

ICYMI: The City of San Antonio has been awarded close to $3 million toward a program focused on Restoring Connections to San Antonio’s Eastside! 🎉 "The project will address the disadvantages created by Interstate Highway 37 through the creation of a study that will incorporate an innovative community planning visioning process along with locally driven design and planning concepts...This Study will focus on transformative and equitable solutions to address walkability, safety, and affordable transportation access through feasibility studies and impact assessments. The pedestrian underpasses connecting to Downtown are visually oppressive and uncomfortable, characterized by bustling vehicular intersections, wide roadways, high traffic volumes and speeds, and poor lighting." 💡 How would you remove barriers and restore connections to San Antonio's Eastside?? Huge news for our regional site readiness work, and a big step forward for the Lowell community! It's been great working on this $17.5 million grant that we've secured for the Covenant Business Park site in Lowell Township, and these funds will catalyze one of our top-priority development sites in all of greater Grand Rapids. We view this 200+ acre site - located on the Eastern edge of Kent County, right at I-96 Exit 52 - as a critical, regional catalyst for additional job creation & community prosperity, at a strategic location which will be very attractive for business expansion and attraction projects in Michigan. Between Lowell Township, the City of Lowell, the developer of the site (Franklin Partners) and others, the proactive collaboration behind this site’s development is extremely strong, and will help fulfill the long-term prosperity goals for the Lowell community and our region. The township zoned this site as Industrial & Commercial PUD a number of years ago, and the use is consistent with their Master Plan and future land use plan. We’ll be holding a series of public open house events right there in Lowell Township in the coming days, and we look forward to further connecting with an already engaged community. Major kudos to the rest of our partners on helping us get to this point, including Donald Shoemaker, Gary Tamminga, Will Shoemaker, Duke Suwyn SIOR CCIM, Steve Marcusse, Jerry Hale at Lowell Township, Michael Burns and of course Randy Thelen and Tim Mroz, among others. I also wanted to note that the Strategic Site Readiness Program through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation is a critically important tool to move this project forward. Quite honestly, the infrastructure work necessary to activate this site wouldn’t be possible without this resource, and I commend the MEDC team (Terri Fitzpatrick, Paul OConnell, Nicole Whitehead) for their work in mobilizing this program across the state. Looking forward to some great things happening for the Lowell area because of this investment. Lets' Go!! #sitereadiness #economicdevelopment #prosperity #infrastructure #collaboration #jobcreation #communityengagement

CONNECTING DALLAS TO DALLAS!!! Allyn Media client The Loop Dallas is featured in the news . . . "Trail connecting White Rock Lake, Great Trinity Forest opens, connecting divided Dallas: The Loop Dallas adds more miles, soft surface mountain biking trail fulfilling decades long promise of greenbelt to underserved areas." Read Leah Waters White great article in The Dallas Morning News to learn how this public private partnership is using trails to connect Dallas to Dallas. "The Trinity Forest Spine Trail will serve portions of Dallas that historically have been left out of major pedestrian infrastructure projects, bridging the gap between communities divided by I-30. One of the reasons why TxDOT partnered with us and we won an award on the south phase of the spine trail is because of the equity that the federal government is recognizing in their applications for infrastructure funding these days,” Philip Hiatt Haigh. The Loop Dallas is working closely with City of Dallas, Dallas Park and Recreation, Dallas County, private donors and corporate partners to make green space available throughout Dallas and increase access to public transportation with a focus on equity. Thanks to public investment and partnership, and private dollars and leadership, The Loop Dallas will unite Dallas with a city-wide bike and pedestrian active transportation system that joins 39 miles of existing trails in Dallas with 11 miles of newly built trails. These final 11 miles are the most complex and costly to deliver which is why a public private partnership is so important. It is a legacy amenity that will benefit Dallas for generations. #AllynMedia #CTC #TheLoop #TheLoopDallas #Trails #GetOutside Terrence Maiden Linda Owen Vana Hammond Parham Jeff Ellerman Rick Perdue Mike Terry Keith Bjerke Dale Operating Company #TransportationResiliency #DallasTrails #Dallas #DallasNews #CityOfDallas #DallasParkAndRec #transportation #ConnectingDallasToDallas

The U.S. DOT’s Reconnecting Communities Pilot program continues to make a profound difference, with $607 million available in its final round of funding in 2024. This initiative is dedicated to reversing the legacy of infrastructure that has divided neighborhoods and communities. Funds can be directly utilized for capital construction, or outright removal of a dividing transportation facility! Notable projects include: Philadelphia: $158.9 million is being used to cap the Vine Street Expressway, paving the way for a new public park in the historic Chinatown neighborhood that bridges communities and enhances local spaces. Atlanta: Over $157.6 million will complete Phase One of the Stitch, capping Interstates 75/85 with a 4-acre park, improving local streets, and revitalizing the MARTA civic center station. These incredibly crucial efforts reflect a commitment to addressing historical injustices and building a more inclusive and connected urban environment. By focusing on restoring connectivity and fostering equitable development, the program is helping to create vibrant, cohesive communities across the country. Kudos to all involved with these transformative projects! #UrbanPlanning #CommunityRevitalization #Infrastructure #Equity

One of the most rewarding parts of my second career as a transportation planner: Using analysis and communications to tell the story of San Antonio's Eastside. The result: Nearly $3 million for a Reconnecting Communities Grant to begin addressing historic harm.
Again, huge congratulations to the City of San Antonio, Lori Houston, Sally Basurto, and Sarah Dierlam on this Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods grant award. It was a huge honor to serve as Project Manager leading a team of talented CSers to complete this grant application. Shout outs to M. Clay Barnes, AICP, Lily Lowder, Tory Kurklander, Aneudi Nuñez, Will McKee, Angela Valenti, and Nick Caccamo. Special thanks to Hannah Santiago, AICP and Kelsey Ahern, PE for guiding me on my first successful grant application with CS. #transportation #grantwriting #grantsuccess

3moThis is a key project to complete this final link and the Woodinville part is the key link to the Interurban trail in Snohomish County. This is a high priority for the City and instrumental in the continued active transportation goals for the City and the Region.
