Today we recognise the annual World Oral Health Care Day 2024 - championing better oral health for all. We offer a complete #OralCare programme for Intensive Care Units (#ICU) including toothbrushes, mouthwashes, protocols and guides. Ventilator associated pneumonia (#VAP) causes prolonged intubation and a prolonged stay in ICU with the associated costs. It is also a serious cause of mortality in compromised patients. A combination of oral care treatments (brushing and suctioning) in a proper oral care protocol means care providers can efficiently prevent oropharyngeal bacterial biofilm build-up, which in turn leads to a reduction of VAP and aspiration pneumonias and greatly reduces associated treatment costs. View our OroCare™ range first-hand today at #ISICEM24 on stand 2.35! If you are unable to attend, explore our dedicated Oral Care landing page: 📲 https://lnkd.in/ermh4Sw #intersurgical #respiratorycare #worldoralhealthday #mouthcarematters #VAPprevention #oralcare

NEW CASE STUDY! King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust saw a 28% reduction in cancelled colonoscopies following the implementation of innovative pre-procedure reminders. Failed bowel prep causes around 5% of #colonoscopy procedures to not go ahead as planned, and inadequate prep reduces procedure quality, prolongs time and may cause adverse outcomes and missed lesions. Read our latest case study to discover how KCH are tackling this: https://lnkd.in/ewqDAXGB #appointmentreminders

New #OpenAccess article from HSS Journal® — Survey found that most patients reported a preference for same-day discharge (SDD) after total joint arthroplasty (TJA) over overnight stay (ONS). Although there was a small difference in patient perception of safety, there were no differences in return to the emergency department or readmissions after SDD and ONS. The NWCSP Surgical Wound Complications recommendations are designed to provide clear advice to health and care practitioners, service managers and commissioners about the fundamentals of evidence-informed care for people with surgical wound complications. They are intended for use in all clinical care settings and aim to support implementation of evidence-based clinical practice in the treatment of surgical wounds. It has been estimated that approximately a fifth of surgical wounds fail to heal within 12 months, leading to considerable patient suffering and NHS cost. #CLABSIs Awareness Central line-associated blood stream infections are crucial for patients, because it can cause very serious life-threatening problems to the patients. So we have to be strict to the standardized central line care when we perform any dialysis treatments. What we should do to protect patients from these infections and can improve patient safety are performing the standardized cares, being strict with sterile techniques, and continuing to monitor and assess exist sites and helping team to find out the causes of the exist sites infections in the previous cases and trying to find the solutions to prevent it. Sometimes the cause is patients lacking of knowledge in self-care, they don't know well how to take care of their vascular accesses when they come home. So we need to make sure that the health education is given clearly, we may utilize Teach-Back to reinforce patient education. Hand washing is simple but very worth to do to improve patient safety. #dialysisnurse #acutedialysis #chronicdialysis #CLABSIs

REGISTER | The Annals of Internal Medicine Journal has published a brief report, "Acute Hospital Care at Home in the United States: The Early National Experience," evaluating the national impact of the Acute Hospital Care at Home waiver. This care allows patients to receive hospital-level care in their homes as a substitute for hospital care that is often expensive and unsafe. Older adults who receive care through hospital-at-home programs experienced low mortality rates. Learn more about HaH implementation from the HaH Users Group: https://ow.ly/rWkE50Qsx68
