Royal Schiphol Group published its 2023 annual results. The commercial results for 2023 show a negative real growth (compensated for inflation) in the average spend per passenger of -0.7% for retail and -9.6% for food and beverage. Despite a year of significant improvement and recovery, concerns around commercial performance remain. The average spend per passenger on retail airside increased by 3.1%, while food and beverage spending per departing passenger decreased by 0.8%. Adjusted for inflation, this means a negative real growth of -0.7% for retail and -9.6% for food and beverage. These results are particularly worrying for an airport whose negative aviation results should be offset by commerce. Airport Express Takes Off March 18, 2024 Metlink’s Airport Express is set to break 2023 patronage record Eight months since Metlink’s Airport Express exceeded forecast demand, latest patronage figures indicate a new record is poised to be set. 364,191 trips were recorded on the fully electric buses’ first year of operation to 20 July 2023 – 128% of the number expected. With over 320,000 trips already taken in the service’s second year of operation and figures for April and May forecast to be around 36,000 in each month, patronage is set to surpass the 2023 total in just ten months.

Communication around price very important as is pricing moving in both directions according to demand not just upwards ! Airport Lounges Are the Hottest Ticket was issued today as an 18-page report to describe the economics of lounges and consumer fascination with these airport retreats. The following are additional key findings from the report: - Co-branded credit cards contribute 40% of guests for airline-operated lounges in the US, with just 5% of guests purchasing single visit passes. - Oneworld, SkyTeam, and Star Alliance together offer access to more than 2,300 lounges worldwide. - Delta’s Sky Clubs likely generated more than $772 million for the airline in 2023. - Capital One, which is set to add 300 million customers with its purchase of Discover Card, operates 50+ Capital One Cafes in urban settings, and airport lounges at Dallas/Ft. US core infrastructure is so much in need of renovation and upgrades. It is so evident. But the bottle neck is financing or debt available. US President Biden’s Infrastructure Bills only account for 10% of the annual needs of $ 4 trillion. So do #MuniBonds. Banks lend much less today and loans are too short. So many mega equity infrastructure funds raised in tens of billions. But the debt is missing to enable these projects to see the light of the day. Why not invest in #InfrastructurePrivateDebtFunds. They probably are the most defensive asset class, with the best risk/return ratio and impact with recurring visible yields from tangible assets’ cash flows. Infrastructure private debt offers both recession and inflation best protection. Some might say we had a supersonic August at Dublin Airport with almost 3.5 million passengers passing through our two terminals. Demand to fly in and out of Dublin Airport remained exceptionally high in the month as we experienced our 20th consecutive month of record passenger numbers. A total of 3.46 million passengers went through the terminal doors of Dublin Airport, making this August the busiest month ever in Dublin Airport’s 84-year history. The week of August 12 took the medal for our busiest week ever with 829,000 passengers, while Sunday, August 18 was our busiest day ever, with 124,600 passengers going through our two terminals. This brings our total number of passengers this year to 22.7 million - 5.5% more than the first eight months of last year, with this trend forecast to continue into September. Passenger satisfaction scores at Dublin Airport have never been better, after we brought in many new improvements for passengers (drop & go parking, new restaurants, click & collect shopping, faster wifi, additional seating) and more than 94% of passengers got through security in 20 minutes or less. https://lnkd.in/ep8mftCN
