"In a survey of 500 U.S. businesses, 81% said they filled their employment pipeline with diverse candidates due to internships." Internships and apprenticeships can not only increase an organisation's future candidate pool, but also reduce the workload of full-time employees and promote interests in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare and finance. https://lnkd.in/eZ2x8_ns #pipelining #internships #diversecandidates #warfortalent

Research shows that less than half of #GenZ respondents said they had enough information to decide what post-high school pathway was best for them. Career readiness programs, including #internships, coops, and #apprenticeships, that give students the opportunity to learn through work and gain real-world experience before they graduate from high school are a critical part of that process. To better understand how business values #workbasedlearning programs for youth, we recently surveyed 500 US employers about their high school internship programs. Here's a look at what we found:

School - to - work programs School-to-work programs, sometimes referred to as transition programs, are essential for facilitating students' seamless transfer from the classroom to the workforce. By giving students exposure to a variety of professional pathways, practical skills, and real-world experiences, these programs seek to close the gap between education and work. School-to-work programs prepare students for the demands of the modern workforce and give them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen vocations by fusing classroom learning with practical job experiences Work-based learning opportunities, such internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing experiences, are an essential part of school-to-work programs. Students can obtain firsthand knowledge of various sectors, professions, and work environments through these encounters. Students can explore potential career options, gain valuable skills, and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world circumstances by working with professionals in their chosen industry. Students who participate in work-based learning programs also gain access to networking opportunities and contacts that will be very helpful when they enter the job. Furthermore, school-to-work initiatives frequently incorporate career exploration exercises and counseling to support students in making well-informed decisions regarding their future professional pathways. Students can explore their interests, strengths, and beliefs through career exams, counseling sessions, and workshops. This allows them to find potential career alternatives that match their objectives and aspirations. Through the provision of informed decision-making tools, school-to-work programs enable students to realize their full potential and seek meaningful and purposeful jobs. #talentserve

In a recent study from Strada Education Foundation focusing on student's internship expectations and experiences, strong associations were found between work-based learning generally - and paid internships specifically - and positive individual outcomes in the labor market after graduation. Simply put, internships provide higher work-ready confidence and earnings with those who have completed a paid internship during undergraduate education than their peers who did not participate in paid internships. GoEducate provides all of the necessary tools in its comprehensive platform to help connect more students regionally to work-based learning opportunities, and drive more job-ready talent into sustainable pipelines for employers. #internships #apprenticeships #workbasedlearning #college #communitycollege #CTE #jobtraining #TPM #talentpipelinemanagement #sacramento #modesto #roseville #kern #california #healthcare #CHIPS #manufacturing #STEAM #students #k16 #credentials #skills #HR #resume #highschool #adultlearners #jobseekers #unemployed #workforcedevelopment #chamberofcommerce #employers https://lnkd.in/gCdD7EzU

Today is move-in day for our summer Academic Internship Program at The Washington Center - an exciting time for #college students from all over the nation to #intern in #nonprofit, #government, and #business roles in almost every imaginable type of career path. A 10-week intensive time to gain #careerskills in a real-world #workplace environment where they will build #networks, solve problems and start to imagine their #career journeys. But... Did you know just 10% of #communitycollege grads and 25% of undergraduates have had access to a paid #internship experience? That's why at TWC, we are committed to 100% paid internships by 2025! And according to a recent report from Strada Education Foundation, it's even gotten worse for recent grads: 52% are considered UNDERemployed (that's up from 41% just two years ago in 2022!). As Andrew Hanson shared with our Board of Trustees recently, this is a systemic, national challenge - and one that can be solved with the right set of policies and interventions. At The Washington Center, we are passionate about creating different modalities and lengths of programs so students and learners can gain the #workbasedlearning and #careerconnectedskills they need to thrive in the #postCOVID #workforce. We know that #coaching and #mentoring go a long way towards building the #socialcapital learners will need as they enter the #jobmarket to thrive. Having met a lot of the students as they checked in to our building today, I'm impressed with their energy and can't wait to see all they accomplish. I remain filled with hope yet am also determined to #scale more #opportunities in other formats for more access for students who can't participate in a semester or summer long program. If we are serious about closing the gaps, #highered, #employers, #policymakers and orgs like mine must be committed to providing access to programs for all students that lead to quality jobs and #economicmobility. #workforcedevelopment #firstjob #graduation #internship #summerinterns

During the supported internship. 🫱🏾🫲🏽Employers will be supported by the learning provider throughout the supported internship. 📈🗣️Employers should be involved in reflecting on a supported intern’s progress, both informally through conversations with a job coach and by more formal contributions to a review process. 🪜Supporting the development of the supported intern is a shared responsibility between staff from the learning provider, including the job coach, and the employer and relies on effective communication. 💡Job coaches may need to negotiate with employers where they feel that a supported intern needs new challenges and could be offered greater responsibilities. Equally, it may be necessary for a job coach to agree on a reduced or different role for a supported intern where appropriate. 🚩Employers are encouraged to flag learning opportunities that would enable the supported intern to extend their range of responsibilities. https://lnkd.in/gxU8kcpa

The previous article talked about internship sharing, It reminds me of a core issue about internship sharing. ✨ Do internships required by university departments need to be made compulsory? 🌟 About the meaning of internship Much discussion focuses on "usefulness" in the presentation of learning outcomes. Therefore, I feel that I don’t want to major in adult education or cultural undertakings in the future, but this is obviously different from the meaning of running a school in the department. No department’s resources are not invested in the future development of the department, and there is no obligation to treat academic qualifications as a necessary provision. , because education after high school is not compulsory, and the quality of the academic department must also be considered, so the internship institution chosen must have a learning significance that is consistent with the curriculum expectations. It is up to you to decide how to combine your future employment and further education. This also shows that the department is open to finding internship institutions. It may be a trial or continuous accumulation, which can be the purpose of the internship, not because you don’t need to. I want to dispel a fundamental fallacy because I knew that internships were required since I chose to enroll. However, when it comes to how internships can be connected with personal goals, I think that maybe the experience report will be a beacon. How to summarize the accumulation of experience through "self-examination" is mentioned by the United Nations on the necessary qualities for the future, and it is also my first choice for passing elementary school. The syllabus of education has requirements since the beginning. How to summarize can connect the academic study with the work internship, perhaps to illustrate the benefits brought by the internship. The possibility of connection may be a soft or hard difference. For example, for digital equipment, presentation production design, or other equipment display link innovation, etc., while the soft part may start from theory and learning knowledge points, how to guide what has been learned in the past and what you have used, to achieve the accumulation of reflective ability, which is the writing of results report The essence of this is also to plant a guide for the next stage, creating opportunities for continued learning and work attempts. The focus of reflection is not only on one's own future development plan, but also on recommending oneself. As you enter different stages, what remains the same is that you must let yourself know the meaning of what you have said and done in the past, and also allow other future partners to understand each other. Even get a chance! As a compulsory internship course, it is meaningful to clean up oneself and reflect on one's own existence. #university #internship
