You give so much of your time, energy, and care to others, but it's just as important to show that same kindness to yourself. As World Teachers' Day approaches, we want to remind you that your well-being matters. Take a moment to recharge, reflect, and offer yourself the compassion you so freely give your students. You deserve it. #HarryWong #HarryWongPublications #EffectiveTeaching

Dear Educators and parents, my wonderful team put together this curriculum guide to the Loveboat, Taipei series, especially with the growing interest in teaching #aapi history and literature around the country. These questions began with the Barnes & Noble book club questions developed by Jenney Nguyen, librarian at Martin Luther King Jr. Library in San Jose, CA, and expanded from there. Thank you also to HarperStacks for their support. The full curriculum can be downloaded at https://lnkd.in/gXm_dA4d I'm happy to connect about classroom visits, so feel free to send teachers my way! Here are some sample classroom questions from the guide: Immigration & Family Narratives: At the beginning of Loveboat, Taipei, the author gives readers a glimpse into Ever and Megan’s friendship, in part by including their reactions when Ever’s parents confront her during their dance rehearsal. From these details, what can you say about the differences in how these two friends were raised? What do their families value differently? How do the girls’ actions reflect their upbringings? Immigration, Mental Health, Learning Differences: In Loveboat, Reunion we learn more about Xavier’s learning differences—dyslexia and dysgraphia—that makes high school not as seamless as it might come to other students. How does Xavier’s unique upbringing and early immigration complicate his ability to get help and a diagnosis? What does Xavier learn about navigating his learning differences by the end? History, Colonialism and Music: In Loveboat Forever, explore how Pearl's engagement with both classical and traditional Chinese music helps her understand the impact of colonialism on different cultures. How does this exploration affect her personal identity and understanding of her cultural heritage? How does this impact her understanding of what stories are represented or voiced more than others in narratives of power and colonialism? #loveintaipei #loveboattaipei #teachers #teachersmatter #aapicurriculum #teachers #thoughtleadership

https://lnkd.in/dvurqGim Review Of English TEDX TALK Ep 9 Level 1 Roll RSOA 17 Topic. kindness in community. Speaker Name is Rehan Allah wala Kindness in a community can create a ripple effect of positive change, fostering a sense of unity and belonging among its members. When individuals act with compassion and understanding, they not only support those in need but also inspire others to do the same. This mutual care builds stronger, more resilient communities where people feel valued and connected. Simple acts of kindness, whether through lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, or showing appreciation, contribute to a more supportive and harmonious environment. Ultimately, kindness helps to bridge gaps, resolve conflicts, and nurture a spirit of cooperation and empathy, making the community a better place for everyone.

Soooo……What do you do when your refugee student hands you THAT picture or tells you THAT story? You know, the one involving what they witnessed in the war that breaks your heart and horrifies you at the same time? How you handle that moment will determine whether or not your classroom is a place of safety or a place of shame and fear for that student. Please watch my new TikTok for tips on how to handle that situation. https://lnkd.in/eBBSvW7A

To introduce our Founding High School Faculty, I'll be sharing some clips of interviews I've conducted with each of them about their educational vision and philosophy. You'll see why we're so excited to have them on board with us at Tessellations School. I'm inspired by the brilliant minds, caring hearts, and capable hands that each of these teachers will bring as they craft learning experiences for our students at Tessie High. First up: our Founding English Teacher, Tess Tran. In the first of several clips that I'll be posting from her in the days to come, you'll hear her speak about the value of an education in English: "It is the ability to critically examine mythologies and narratives that continue to shape society. If we're not able to recognize the power of narratives on society, and on us as individuals, we become passive consumers; we absorb narratives about ourselves, about other people, and about the way the world should work. My goal is to help students critically examine the narratives that surround them and decide: 'Do I believe in this or not? Do I want to accept this? Do I want to reject it? Do I want to change it?'"
