I know I've posted this previously, but with the Super Bowl this weekend - this is my favorite math/engineering topic to discuss at your party and with your friends: The Surrender Index (https://lnkd.in/ejvpR6e5). It is a statistical approach to analyzing 4th down decisions, particularly the "most cowardly" decisions to punt the ball. The analysis includes many factors including whether the team is winning or losing, how much time is left in the game, distance to a first down, and position on the field. Based on those factors, the decision gets a score for how cowardly it was (Surrender Index), which is then ranked against all the decisions for the season, and in the history of the data set.
Personally - I'm having a Super Bowl Party at my place for friends. We're currently expecting ~20 people, half adults and half their kids. Hope the game is entertaining, and a chance for folks to have a relaxing Sunday with family and friends.
In terms of rooting interests - my daughter is rooting for Taylor Swift's team, and I'll have a slight preference toward SF, given my 5-year stint in the Bay Area in graduate school.
