What is it like to work in a children's home? Unless you have already worked in a children's home, you may assume Tracey Beaker is a somewhat accurate representation, but this couldn't be further from the truth. As a family owned, private provider of children's residential services, we are proud to have some of the highest Ofsted ratings in the industry, working closely with a number of local authorities to take care of children requiring specialist care and support, which can include therapy, and sometimes education. You may be watching this video considering a career with Hexagon Care, which is great, but here are some things to bear in mind in addition to the short video! -This isn't a 'dead-end' job... there are progression opportunities and we have a clear pay and grading framework that shows you what is required to get to the next stage of your career. -If you're looking for something short-term or alongside your studies as a stop gap please ensure you are available for a minimum of 12 months. It isn't fair on the young people in our care to form positive relationships with staff to have them not stick around. -Most of our children's homes work on a '1 shift on, 2 shifts off' basis, meaning you may be in the home for a full day, followed by sleeping in at the home. You would then be off for 2 days! This averages out at 40.5 hours per week in most homes. #childrenshome #residentialcare #rewardingcareer

Become one of our partners and see how we can help fill any gaps you may have with staffing. We have built some amazing local partnerships with local businesses, who can positively say how amazing our students are and support your business in becoming more Disability Confident. As our student numbers grow, the more businesses we need to enable them to achieve their long term goal of paid employment. The fact that paid employment is a goal of theirs, shows one of the many barriers they smash through to achieve their long term goal. Are you our next business partner?

Here's an update for #WhatsHappeningWednesday that makes us go wow! From My #Oregon News, https://www.myoregon.gov/ is this feature on "Work Support on Wheels." Here's an excerpt from the article written by Laura Eidam: "Beginning this spring, job seekers, students, and workers throughout Central Oregon can expect WorkSource Oregon services to come to them, thanks to the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council’s new mobile unit. This one-of-a-kind workforce center is made possible through support from Future Ready Oregon. Specifically, a 2022 Workforce Ready Grant from the HECC (Higher Education Coordinating Commission) funded the purchase of the van, and Prosperity 10,000 support from East Cascades Works—the region’s local workforce board—is funding the planning, implementation, and hiring of a mobile employment counselor. The Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council (COIC) serves Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties. That’s about 600 miles of open road. The region’s WorkSource Oregon centers in Bend and Redmond can be challenging for residents in the surrounding communities to visit. “In some cases it can be a 60-70 mile round-trip to get to these centers,” says COIC Adult Programs Manager Dana Dunlap. “For someone with a low income—or no income, or who is waiting for unemployment benefits—that is a significant expense.”" The article goes on to state that: "Designing the mobile unit highlighted the importance of partnering with community members and engaging in collaborative brainstorming to ensure the van is efficient, reliable, and can be used to serve a maximum number of community members." We look forward to the roll out of this wonderful initiative, as we appreciate all the partnerships that make #WorkforceDevelopment and #CommunityEngagement projects thrive! #PartnershipsMatter

Refreshing to see a leader prioritizing trust and flexibility! Empowering employees to balance work and life enhances productivity and satisfaction. Your hiring advice is on point: choose wisely, set clear goals, offer support, and allow autonomy. Thanks for sharing!
I don’t care whether you come into the office at 8 am. I don’t care if you choose to work from home or not. I don’t care if you work from the garage while they fix your car. I hired you for a job and I trust you to get it done. Just let me know what you need from me to be successful in your role. And I will show up for you. Life happens! You don’t need to justify to me why you need a day off. You don’t need to explain how sick your child is to leave early. You don’t need to apologize for having a personal life. Yes, I care about results but I also care about you. We are all human and we are all adults. I lead people. I don’t run an adult daycare center. My advice for anyone hiring: 1. Select the right people. 2. Agree on deliverables (be crystal clear). 3. Provide proper tools and support. 4. Get out of their way. #hiring #job #people #workfromhome #work cc-Brigette

Just let me know what you need to succeed in your job! That’s not a statement you here often from bosses but it’s a statement that can completely turn around the results of your team. Be crystal clear on their deliverables, support them and let them be.

I wish people were honest enough to have these conversations. Life would move along swifter. Understand that you sold your time to help someone achieve certain goals within a specific timeline. Move towards those goals, report your progress, show your plan to achieve them and be left alone to achieve those goals. The business does it's part, provide the support, tools, training and resources needed. That is collaborative working. #Coaching

Absolutely! This is a refreshing and empowering approach to managing people. Providing trust, flexibility, and support for employees' personal lives is key to fostering a productive and engaged workforce. I appreciate the emphasis on focusing on results rather than micromanaging, and the practical advice for effective hiring and management.
