De-escalation practice on-demand for nurses! De-escalation is something healthcare professionals rarely get to "practice". Most of the time our practice is with real patients which can impact patient outcomes. Here is a demo of an AI patient conversation inside Tactile VR's nursing simulations, allowing nurses and nursing student's the opportunity to improve their de-escalation techniques. This patient was created by a nursing educator and gave the patient delusions and hallucinations. #nursing #nursingschool #nursingstudent #virtualreality #CoursetaVR #TactileVR #CHSE #nursingsimulation #AI #Artificialintelligence #Schizophrenia #Delusions

💡 Transformation Tuesday 💡 After a productive end of the week at the AALNC forum, I started this week off by discussing spirituality with students in their first semester of nursing school. This group of women and men give me a positive outlook on the future of nursing as they all genuinely want to be nurses. Just like many other topics in nursing, spirituality is a soft skill that is based on "therapeutic communication." I remember rolling my eyes every time I heard the phrase "therapeutic communication" during my nursing school days. But now, I am the one trying to impart some wisdom to these young, impressionable minds. I have done a handful of lectures this semester, and every time I stand in front of that classroom, I reflect on how far I have come as a nurse. I realize that I am much more mature and responsible than my 19-year-old self, which I guess is an expected outcome of a 15-year career. How have you changed since graduating high school? I would love to hear about it. #nurse #lnc #transformationtuesday

Nursing is STEM!
Dear reader (in my best Bridgerton voice), did you know that #Nursing is not considered a #STEM-designated profession by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Science Foundation (NSF), and others? It boggles the mind, as the foundation of all that nurses do is based on science, technology, engineering, and math. That is why I am co-chairing the Nursing Is STEM national coalition with Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL. You can read more about it in the The Philadelphia Inquirer article that came out today. We need nurses, nurse leaders, other providers, organizations, and universities/schools to sign on here: nursingisstem.org. Thanks to Abraham Gutman for highlighting the #NursingIsSTEM movement. https://lnkd.in/e6g6JZTT

I was today years old when I learned that Nursing is NOT designated as a STEM profession! 🤯 Let’s use our collective power to change that. Follow Nursing Is STEM, check out their website and read this article. #nursing #stem #bethechange #nursingisstem

This definately needs to change. Nursing is 100% a STEM profession.

WHO knew? I had no idea nursing was not designated a STEM field. This means nursing does not get access to millions of dollars in grants designated for enhancing STEM research, education and careers. How can this be? "Nurses utilize scientific principles, mathematical concepts, and cutting-edge technology to conduct assessments, make diagnoses, and plan the care of patients. They employ evidence-based interventions to address illnesses, sustain human life, and, ultimately, assess the outcomes of the care delivered to patients." Two Philly nurses are leading a mission to change this nationally. https://lnkd.in/etdtJccU What do you think? Should nursing be designated a STEM field? I say hell yeah and I will be supporting this effort. Please review and share! https://lnkd.in/ePdYyU-4? https://lnkd.in/efRCRCvr #NursingisStem #STEM

"State laws and recommendations vary widely, with nurse-to-student ratios ranging from 1:500 in states like Alabama and Vermont to 1:3,000 in Tennessee. However, these ratios are not always adhered to, and many districts do not meet the bare minimum recommended staffing levels." Robin Cogan MEd, RN, NCSN, FNASN, FAAN penned a thoughtful article about the nurse-to-student ratio in schools. A more comprehensive, customizable approach to school staffing needs to evolve. #SchoolNursing #SchoolNurse #NursingShortage
