Facing a rapidly aging population, #Japan will require all new automatic passenger cars to have #technology that prevents drivers from unintentionally accelerating by hitting the gas pedal instead of the brake. 🚗👵👴 The ministry plans to revise its ordinances after the #UN regulations are formally agreed upon in November this year. Initially, new automatic models will be required to install this technology, with a subsequent expansion to new cars for existing models. 🌐📅 This technology will suppress acceleration, ensuring that even if a driver fully steps on the accelerator pedal just 1 to 1.5 meters away from a sizeable object, the car will stop before hitting it or slow to less than 8 kilometers per hour if a collision is unavoidable. 🚦🔧🛑 #RoadSafety #AgingPopulation https://lnkd.in/dZ_2AWgj

How will self-driving vehicles transform our towns and cities? 🚌 Shared passenger shuttles can help public transport authorities provide more inclusive and responsive services. 💚 They’ll also help to cut congestion and make urban areas cleaner. Shuttles driven by Oxa Driver software are already operating in multiple cities in the US, but in our recent blog Jamie Hodsdon, Global Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs at Oxa, outlines the potential benefits for passengers in the UK. #AutonomousVehicles #SelfDrivingVehicles #Shuttles 🔗 Link in the comments.

Henk Swarttouw was writing that Amsterdam is testing remotely slowing down e-bikes and the natural question is why aren't cars also automatically forced to respect speed limits? Europe is doing something about it starting this summer, but it's striking how little. Note the tone of the rules: - "the driver is always in control and can easily override the ISA system." - the acoustic and vibrating warnings "have to be as short as possible in duration to avoid potential annoyance of the driver." - the pedal resistance force - "the driver can ignore this feedback and override the system by pushing slightly harder on the acceleration pedal." This doesn't feel we're trying to solve the problem, does it? We've been brainwashed into accommodating cars and drivers and being super scared of doing anything that slightly annoys them or that slows the sales of, say, cars that can accelerate to 100km/h in 3 seconds. It's absolutely incredible how over 1 million people killed by cars every year don't seem to matter at all. #slowdowncars #trafficsafety #urbanmobility

Volvo introduces new "Accident Ahead Alert" safety feature in Europe. This driver-assistance system leverages real-time traffic data from traffic management centers to warn drivers of accidents up to a few hundred meters ahead. It aims to help drivers avoid collisions and navigate around traffic jams caused by accidents. The feature is currently available in Denmark for Volvo 90, 60 and 40 series models from 2016 onwards. Volvo plans to expand it to other European markets soon. This builds upon Volvo's existing connected safety technology where Volvo cars communicate with each other about slippery roads and hazards. Accident Ahead Alert adds traffic authority data and information from other compatible vehicles. The system uses hazard light alerts on the dashboard and head-up display (if available) to warn drivers. Volvo assures user privacy by sharing only essential anonymized data. This initiative is welcomed by the Danish Traffic Management Centre, which sees it as a way to reduce follow-up collisions and protect road crew. Volvo plans to further expand its connected safety network by collaborating with traffic management centers and other car brands across Europe. . . #Volvo #SafetyFirst #AccidentAheadAlert #ConnectedSafety #DriverAssistance #Europe #TrafficSafety #CollisionAvoidance #RoadSafety #Innovation #AutonomousDriving #CarTechnology #Denmark #TrafficManagement #DataSharing #PrivacyProtected #EuropeanDataforRoadSafety

How a taxi used to work in 1943 Imagine this, taxi cars were fully electric and there were specific service stops where the taxi driver would stop, they take apart certain things, take out the battery, put in a replacement battery, and in 5 minutes the taxi driver moves on. When next car arrives at the service stop, the battery would be full and handed over to another taxi driver. #hiddentechnology #oldworldtech

UK set to become first country with Self-Driving Cars starting from 2026! Thanks to groundbreaking legislation, the UK is poised to become the first country to allow self-driving cars on its roads as early as 2026. This revolutionary technology has the potential to improve our lives in many ways. Two key aspects you probably never considered before: 1. Mobility freedom for all: elderly, disabled, and visually impaired individuals who can no longer drive will finally be able to move independently and autonomously. 2. New mobility services: services like car sharing and car rentals will receive a massive boost to develop, offering users greater flexibility and convenience. We of ZIHET are also committed to this sector and believe that the revolution brought about by this technology will be far more profound than the public can imagine at this time. https://lnkd.in/da67H3nB.
