There is the person, the process, the purpose and the practice of leadership but it all starts with your philosophy of leadership. Leaders may adopt a scatter gun approach to leadership in such a way that everything they hear about leadership is right. Developing a coherent philosophy means that you stand for something and that you do not fall for everything. I am looking forward to sharing more on developing a coherent leadership philosophy with the student body of the African Leadership University.

This is so true, but we need to remember that leadership skills must continually be developed. They do not magically appear but must be taught and practiced, mentored and encouraged themselves. Do not hire a leader and walk away but invest in their ongoing learning. It will have an ROI that travels throughout your organization.
