Have you ever bought a lemon 🍋 of a car? You know, you were all excited to cruise down the road in your new automobile to only be left broken down somewhere when you least expect it. I had a ‘lemon’ experience…but it was with my dental practice. 🦷 I purchased a practice in my hometown (where I wanted to be) that I knew was a bit rundown, but I had no idea how deep the issues went until I got in there. The staff was a major problem. People were not doing what they should be. They had blocked out the schedule in the morning and the afternoon for 2 hours so they could have ‘breaks’ when the local burrito truck stopped by or run to the local drive-in for Cokes. Who the hell thinks that’s okay? Collections were behind, patients weren’t paying (and selectively not being charged), and the previous dentist didn’t care. The inmates were running this asylum. I was acting like a dentist and trying to solve problems by cutting teeth. What I needed to do was think strategically and let marketing and systems revamp my practice. I flipped the switch in my head and it grew my bank account.    When I had clarity about my ideal prospect, I could be a better leader and get this crazy train on the tracks. I needed to stop using my dental brain and start using my ears and eyes to see and hear what people were feeling. I recently had an experience during a routine x-ray for my knee that left me reflecting on the power of brief interactions and how much they can reveal. The technician marveled at how quickly the appointment went and said something that struck me deeply: "That was the fastest appointment I've done hands down, like ever. I can just tell you're really smart and intelligent. I feel like I'm a little all over the place, but you're just on it. Just a sign of really high intelligence. And I wish you luck with your knee and whatever’s going on with it, but I know it's not gonna stop ya." In that moment, it felt like she saw into my very essence, recognizing something about me that goes beyond the surface. This encounter made me think about how I approach my work with clients. Just as this technician was able to see something in me so quickly, I bring that same level of insight and clarity to the businesses I work with. Whether it’s identifying inefficiencies, streamlining processes, or creating sustainable growth strategies, I’m able to quickly grasp what’s working, what’s not, and how to fix it. My goal is to bring that same level of clarity and quick understanding to my clients’ businesses—helping them see what’s possible and empowering them to achieve it. State Farm to Test Mitchell Estimating in Ohio State Farm is piloting the Mitchell estimating platform for a select group of their Select Service collision repair centers in Ohio. This test aims to improve customer experience by exploring new ways to write estimates and source parts. The program will leverage Mitchell's existing integration with PartsTrader, so the current parts sourcing requirement remains unchanged. Repair shops not mandated to use PartsTrader will utilize Mitchell's Integrated Parts solution. This is a limited test, but State Farm hints at potentially expanding the program based on industry feedback and their goal to provide a multi-platform approach for different repair facilities. While only a portion of Ohio's Select Service shops are involved for now, this test could signal a broader shift in how State Farm handles repairs in the future. Meet Travis Travis is a long time employee of Wil-Tech and currently working as our Lead Technician in our service department here in Estevan. Here are a few things you might not know about Travis! 1. What is your favorite part of working at our company? The people I work with, and the diversity of industries that we work in. 2. What are you most proud of in your career so far? Growing in my diagnostic skills and getting the chance to be a mentor type person for the newer techs 3. What's one thing people don't know about you that they would be surprised to find out? I am a big fan of Sci-fi and comics. 4. What piece of advice would you give to your younger self? Be easy on your body, don’t be reckless and get hurt this job wears your body enough. 5. How long have you been with the company? It’s been a while, first started in late October 2009. Had a brief period away in 2016/2017 but came back. 6. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Time travel I think. It’s a hard one to pick lol 7. What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career? The mobile work, I’m grateful that Mike and Curtus have that faith in me to go out and get the jobs done. 8. What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading? I have a few shows I’m currently watching. Gotham Knights, Gen V, and The Good Fight 9. What’s one thing on your bucket list? Visit Europe. 10. Who is one your biggest inspirations? My dad, he was a mechanic and had the reputation back home of just being the person you went to for repairs. No matter what if it had an engine he would work on it.
