Andrew’s right. In the battle against climate breakdown decarbonising the built environment (which is responsible for 40 per cent of global carbon emissions) is crucial. Substituting materials which have high levels of embodied carbon eg concrete, for nature based sustainable materials such as timber which have low embodied carbon is a quick and easy climate win. We will need 50 per cent nature based construction materials including insulation by 2040 and 75 per cent minimum by 2050.
📰 Bellway aims to use timber frame construction in 30% of its housing projects by 2030, more than doubling its current 12% output. Read more on the #OffsiteHub 👉 https://ow.ly/T7TU50TPOnH #TimberConstruction #OffsiteConstruction #SustainableBuilding
