Are you paying attention to the train wreck with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf? Both sides are giving you a master class on how quickly brands can be tainted. Both sides have created a terrible customer experience. LIV is leaning on personalities they think will elevate their profile. WIthout significant visibility even the likes of Jon Rahm can't move the needle. And their messaging when signing players is absolute stupidity. The PGA Tour is ... not sure what they are. Their broadcasts have been terrible for years. They forgot how to tell compelling stories about golfers while actually showing golf. It is a race to see who takes care of their customers. For real. Not in a pandering way. I'm not confident either side knows how to do that right now. Would love to hear your thoughts. #branding #customerexperience

My view from playing pickleball at sunrise. I'm still amazed at how hot air balloons work - heat up the air and it rises. Sometimes simple is the answer - that is what I have found with messaging to sales. - How would you explain what we do to someone new? - How does the customer view our solution in their world? - What do they view as success? - Why are we unique in our solution? Just the facts - give it to me straight and simple - that is what the best players in sales ask. Then they have more valuable conversations with partners and customers. So, I find my champions who can articulate the value and we start from there. Talk about "on brand" - somebody knows what they are doing. The Masters is special because they make it special: - Exclusive waiting list for tickets - Constant reference to attendees as "patrons" - A (or should I say THE?!) course that not everyone can pay to play - They literally call it "A Tradition Unlike Any Other" Branding makes a difference. There are 36 PGA events. There are 3 other Major tournaments. But none of them stand out to me like the Masters. (Not to me anyway.) Another great Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show is complete. I've been working this show since 2001 and take each year as an opportunity. Far too often, I see exhibitors get lost in the details. My first few years were no different. To focus on the the load-in, to spend too much energy on out bound shipping or to worry about answering emails during this week is to waste what you have in front of you. Everything in Indianapolis during PRI can be an opening. The walks, coffee breaks, social hours, receptions, and meals are all a chance to exchange ideas, concepts, and solutions with coworkers, customers or friends. After years of this, trust me, the details will work out. Trust your staff, trust the show support and keep your eyes and ears open. There is never another chance, during the year to see this many of our industry professionals in one setting.
