Over 5 years ago Kevin J. MacKillop joined us to start a Milwaukee office for Spark Talent Acquisition, Inc. Kev, Fletcher Kundtz and I like to joke that we recruited him for a decade starting back when we were all Walsh College. Fast forward 5 plus years to when he started and it’s crazy to think all that’s happened/ been accomplished. Kev thank you for trusting in our mission, vision, and ultimately in us. Kevin embodies this. ✔️Starting a new market organic is one of the toughest things you can do. ✔️Embracing our infrastructure changed in 2020 took a lot of trust in what we are doing. ✔️Converting Packaging related relationships to Spark Packaging in 2021 and joining the board for the company is another example of putting the mission first and trusting what we are building. ✔️Overcame personal challenges that came up and is thriving in this area with his new beautiful bride @wellingsaround. ✔️Kevin has made a huge impact on the growth of Spark Talent and our RPS business unit which has exploded in growth over the last 3 years. ✔️Kevin trusted the mission and vision again by bringing in a day to day leader to best service our customer and team. You will see a common theme here. Kevin is someone who has stuck with things, overcame adversity, and continues to become better every day. There have been some exciting developments that have prompted me to drag myself from the comfort of my offline existence to share with you all publicly online. Having spent nearly 20 years in the TA industry, I’m the first to advocate for driving efficiency in the way TA is delivered, having strong fundamental skills & using technology to enhance performance. But, whilst this is still a huge part of who we are & what I believe in, my views also extend beyond that, & have a desire for us as a business to mature beyond that too. Hiring the right talent is a hugely important step on a company's scaling journey, but having scaled a company myself & supported the scale of many others, I fully appreciate it’s not the entire picture. VICE Media, a company thoroughly plundered by private equity and greedy salesmen masquerading as leaders, is (was?) also a company with hundreds of people actually trying to do right by the idea of human-focused, original reporting. This weekend, more Vice employees are forced to wait through the weekend for their layoff status, as mass layoffs have been confirmed (again). You'd think that founders, assuming the purpose of Vice is about the business, not the personal wealth, would be there to deliver news and support. (From the linked article) "And close watchers of the company continue to wonder: Where has Smith, who remains Vice’s executive chairman, gone?
