𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 When it released in 1994, The Shawshank Redemption was a box office disappointment. Today it features in most best ever movies list. American Beauty won the Oscar for the best movie in 2000. It was critically acclaimed and won a slew of Oscars. Years later, it is viewed as one of the most overrated movies of all time. In the 2024 Grammy's Jay Z criticized the Recording Academy for the way the go about judging. Speaking of his wife Beyonce he said "𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳. 𝘚𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘺𝘴. 𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬.” In the online world, juries are fickle. You can get trolled and praised for the same thing. Or get trolled for putting out something you believe in. If you're waiting for approval from some imagined jury in your head, it's a waste of time. If you get swayed and disillusioned by people who don't have your best interests in mind, it can stop you from creating. One approach is to ignore all the juries and keep creating. Eventually, you'll find a jury that cares enough to make you better. #decision #jury #opinion
"Ignore all the juries and keep creating" -- You've embodied this for years, Pawan. Hats off to you 👏
Or you will become Prince.
Closer home we have Guna and many such gems which won critical acclaim much later.

6moOne major reason why 'American Beauty' has received flak from all possible angles is the litany of serious allegations Kevin Spacey has faced, starting 2017. But that's just one of several issues it has. Cliched portrayals of suburban lives, midlife crises, and the galling sexualisation of young women are but a few. It's not a gem of a movie and is alarmingly overrated, certainly. Hasn't aged well either. Quite rightly, it has fallen victim to cancel culture. Spacey was one of the most bankable stars. But you know how it is; the bigger you get, the faster you fall. It is my opinion that 'The Green Mile' should have won the Best Picture that year. Both these movies - TGM and The Shawshank Redemption - are directed by Frank Darabont. And both are based on Stephen King's work. The coincidence is strong here!
