Jaslyn Ng Asia Insurance Agent of the Year Ex-HR Global Leader, Top of the Table Qualifier
Jaslyn Ng Asia Insurance Agent of the Year Ex-HR Global Leader, Top of the Table Qualifier is an Influencer LinkedIn Top Voice | “THE Go-To” Financial Consultant of CXOs CEOs and Senior Corporate Leaders
A few years ago, my CEO client introduced me to this C-Suite prospect. Let's call him Chris - he worked in a top MNC bank serving HNW clients. It's interesting. You see I do sales. He was in sales too. I remember the first time we met, he was observing me, my subtle nuances and body language. Most people would have cringed at this. But I really enjoyed the conversation, despite knowing that Chris was observing me throughout. Of course at times we want to show up being the top Financial Consultant demonstrating the professional expertise for our clients. However what I want to be known for is being that good trusted confidante of all my clients, a safe space for them to share with me their biggest dreams. My job was to ensure that no matter alive or dead (sorry for being morbid), their dreams for their kids and families are protected. The conversations with Chris carried on for many months and crossing into years. There were different life challenges and milestones which pushed back potential business opportunities. However what truly amazed me was Chris had always took time and effort to update me on what's happening in his life. He was ADAMANT to kickstart an education plan for his daughter. "We need to start from somewhere. Let's do something small first!" So it happened... It was just 30 minutes away from my boarding time and we did a quick zoom call for the plan application. Within two hours, by the time I landed in Jakarta, the education plan for Chris' daughter was already in-force. A parent's love for the kids can be so immensely powerful. As we hustle daily, let's remember why we are working so hard every day: At the end of the day, our Love for the Family is the biggest WHY. What's your biggest 'WHY'? Share your thoughts below! #CEO #TopOfMind #FinancialConsultant #ParentLove #EducationPlanning #ProtectYourDreams

Customer Service Analyst | Communication Enthusiast | Problem Solving Expert | Relationship Manager | McKinsey Forward Alumni | Generative AI Expert
2024 has been a year of profound growth for me—a year where I knew I had to stretch my mental limits and step far beyond my comfort zone. I remember listening to accomplished professionals years ago, marveling at how they spoke about functioning on less than five hours of sleep a night. It felt unimaginable to me then. Eight hours of sleep was the norm, or so I thought. But recently, I came to understand that when you're committed to excellence, when you're truly pushing yourself, eight hours becomes a luxury. If you're striving to stay sharp, innovative, and productive, those late nights and early mornings become part of the journey. As someone deeply rooted in customer service, I knew that if I wanted to transition into a mid-level managerial role, I had to do more than just refine my current skills. I needed to embrace a challenge, one that would push me into unfamiliar territory. I didn’t want to settle for the usual skill set. I craved something that would expand my mind—and that's when I found Data Science. The power that numbers and data hold is incredible, with the potential to revolutionize industries. Take the hospitality industry, for example. In the world of serviced apartments, businesses can leverage data to completely transform the way they operate. By collecting, analyzing, and interpreting customer data, they can use insights to elevate customer satisfaction, improve operational efficiency, and boost revenue. I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity given to me by 3MTT Nigeria, through the NITDA Nigeria program, and spearheaded by Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani. The weekly coaching from Guru Innovation Hub the guidance of my Data Science tutor, Joseph Edet have been invaluable. In just three months, I’ll have the skills to analyze customer booking patterns, forecast demand trends, and understand seasonal behaviors. With these insights, I’ll be able to help businesses develop strategies that optimize pricing and inventory, ensuring they stay competitive while maximizing both occupancy and revenue. This journey has shown me the immense power of learning and growth, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.

My Journey- Change is a Verb. Change is necessary and constant, but change is also hard, sometimes messy, and almost always a struggle with uncertainty. For most of us, real adulthood starts immediately after university. In 2010, I graduated from the University of Nigeria with a B.Sc. in Economics, and like every graduate’s expectation – getting a job was a top priority. And indeed, I landed my 1st job as a Customer Service Agent with MTN Nigeria Communication, where I had to interact with thousands of telecommunications users to support issues arising from day-to-day usage. I was also tasked with onboarding new clients, which I enjoyed because it was my first rodeo in corporate life. In 2017, I got a similar role offer with Konga Group. I was to come in as a Customer Service Executive (Media Analyst/Issue Resolution). As with all customer-facing roles, the customer’s utmost satisfaction was my primal function. My daily tasks revolved around listening and paying attention to all complaints from customers, ensuring that those complaints were resolved and also tracking trends in these issues. The role was a combination of today’s customer satisfaction and product management. Things took a different curve in my career journey in 2018 when an opening in HR showed up. My strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills in customer service caught the attention of the HR department. I saw an opportunity to leverage these skills in a different capacity and applied for an opening. By 2019 my tag changed names to Recruitment and Employee Engagement Associate and 2 years later it changed to Payroll, Benefits & Compensation Associate. In 2022, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life, I applied for my masters in a new continent, away from family and most friends. When my admission letter arrived through my mail, I felt all kinds of ways, but hey I am one springy human, so I knew I was in for the beat. This month, I graduated from Teesside University, Middlesbrough with merit master’s in International Management (Operations). The journey that began in December 2022, has finished its course and what an amazing journey it has been. I am grateful to my ever-supportive husband and family for standing by me all through this journey. My master’s in International Management (Operations) has equipped me with the skills to excel in roles such as project management, people engagement, logistics & global chain management and product management. Additionally, my ACIPM & APHR trainings (2021 & 2022) and upcoming CAPM certification from PMI solidify my commitment to continuous learning. I am ready for the next chapter!

Founder @ Your Finance Mind | Finance Mindset Coach | Empowering new investors to begin with confidence
What happens after leaving a 14-year banking career? 😬 10 years ago, I was a new mum, back at my banking job in Singapore after maternity leave. My baby was placed in infant care so that I could go back to work. My German husband always had a preference that one of us parents should stay home for our child. Coincidentally, he had just gotten a new job posting, which was based in Indonesia I needed to make a big (and quick) decision. Do I stay in my job and let my husband shuttle between Indonesia and Singapore, while our baby had to be sent to infant care daily; OR Do I give up my career, move to Indonesia and be a full-time mum, where both me and my husband can watch our child grow up? Well, I chose the latter and walked away from my 14-year banking career. In Indonesia, I tried my best to be a stay-home mum. Nothing came naturally to me in this area, unfortunately. I read books on how to clean and do laundry. I took my child for walks around the neighbourhood, hoping to meet some new friends. It was a tough couple of years. After a while, I was able to hire reliable help to do the household chores. I focused on being a mum and started spending more time investing in the stock markets. Investing is lonely. I tried to look for a support group in my expat community, inviting people who were interested in investing to join my WhatsApp group. I quickly found out that most of the people who joined me were quite new to investing and wanted to learn more. Unintentionally, I became the “expert” in the group! Well, I went along with my “mistake” and started to host coffee mornings where I would share personal finance or investing topics with the group. Coffee mornings grew to Zoom webinars. Suddenly, I started getting private coaching clients across South-east Asia. Even large MNCs and companies reached out to me for workshops and collaborations! Today I'm living in Manila and my coaching business gives me lots of joy and flexibility - both time and location. I can connect with my clients online, whereever I'm based, even when I'm travelling. I feel truly blessed how I stumbled upon my Ikigai in the midst of change and uncertainty, especially in a season of my life where I needed time flexibility to be there for my child. Sometimes, in life, we need to make big, scary decisions which are out of our comfort zone. As the saying goes, progress is impossible without change. I’m curious, have you ever made a scary decision which turned out to be a great decision on hindsight? I would love to hear your story too. #yourfinancemind #financecoach #careerbreak 💌 P.S. Here’s a photo of me and my child in 2015. If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self that “hey, everything will be alright”!

Productivity vs Busyness There are 3 things you can do this month as we celebrate Labour Day in Nigeria 🇳🇬 to be productive 🔵🟢 Say No: Saying no to some opportunities doesn't mean you are incompetent, it shows you care more about the client than the money you will earn when you do take the job 🟢🔵 Delegate Tasks: Your team and circle and your best gift, optimize their skills and their availability, outsource some tasks to others, or use tools that can carry them out, giving you ample time to do the most important and relevant tasks 🟤🔴 Plan breaks between work hours: Your productivity reduces the longer you work at a stretch, set alarms to take breaks, especially if you work remotely, and take walks, do exercise, do some stretches, get yourself good food, and take enough water Happy new month and may this month be a highly productive one for you 💪🏾Happy Labour Day Cheers to the new Follow Bernice Orji for digital marketing and techy content #berniceorji #techconsultant #techdigitalmarketingconsultant #digitalmarketingconsultant #digitalmarketer #techies #techfounder #socialmediamanager #socialmediamanagement #digitalmarketingservices #digitalmarketingtips #digitalmarketinghacks

The Malaysian One Percent really needs to reconnect with the rest of the working class. Some industries are far more profitable than others, with high profit margins & high earnings all year long for all who are lucky enough to work there. And then there are the overworked health workers, or the highly taxed entertainment industry, or even rising costs of raw materials that affect your average hawker or food stall operators.. Kudos to people like Khairulaming who invest their hard-earned money and set up businesses in rural hometowns. Providing job opportunities & good honest work for others. Some people with dreams of making a quick buck fall prey into scams or even worse run the scam syndicates to make a living in these tough times. It's so upsetting. Not to mention the extravagant allowances of ministers. Politicians who are out of touch with the reality of the people they're supposed to represent. And then there are the corrupt ones, who have built their entire fortunes off of what is rightfully the rakyat's money. Most people are in survival mode, and if you're lucky enough to not be...Please, please, please consider how to sustainably help the economy of others. Charity and savior behavior is just not sustainable. Invest in people. Invest in the local economy. Bridge the wealth gap. We need to believe and support each other. Our country is still full of potential even if it seems hopeless sometimes. To be honest, I'm only able to type this down after airing my frustrations while chatting with the wife yesterday. It is frankly, quite frustrating.. But you know what...Maybe, just maybe..More successes inspired by Khairulaming will step up in the future. Who knows.. InshaAllah...Amiiiin...

In my home country, Iran, it's unfortunately common to be asked to work without payment or with low payment. I used to do it a lot, and when I moved to Canada, I still had the same mindset. Near the end of my education at a school in Montreal, an Iranian girl with a startup asked me to work for them for a month for free, promising to hire me at the end of the month. When I shared this story with my supervisor, he got angry and blamed me, saying I hadn't invested in you to work for others for free, undervaluing his efforts to help me grow. This happened seven years ago. Since then, during my time in Iran, when someone offered no payment or low payment, my supervisor's disapproval came to mind, and I would decline such offers, stating that I don't work with low payment. Since then, my income has changed significantly. I'd rather have no job than accept one that undervalues me, considering the support I received from great people to reach this stage. I always ask my team members how much they want for their jobs and pay them that amount. I believe in paying what they ask or not hiring them if their value exceeds my budget. I suggest you do the same. If you don't, even if your employee works for you, they won't rely on you for long. In the end, you might lose the money and time you invested in them. My suggestion for the team lead is to focus on generating more financial resources instead of reducing your employees' pay. I am very thankful for my supervisor, who changed my mindset and had such a significant impact on my financial life.
