Big thank you 🙏 to Miami-Dade Beacon Council and Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium for inviting World Affairs Council of Miami to great and meet with Marko Djurić, ambassador of the Government of the Republic of Serbia 🇷🇸 to the United States of #America 🇺🇸. The meeting was at most informative about current development trajectory after the elections in December of 2023, and where the new government will go from here. The highlights: - American 🇺🇸 - Serbian 🇷🇸 #diplomatic relations are actually long, with a treaty on Commercial Relations established in 1881. - sustainable 🌱 #energy development from less polluting resources is on the agenda. There are multiple #photovoltaic investments, including investments with #USA 🇺🇸 company, as well as hydroelectric 🌊 plants. It’s not an easy transition for a country that mines lignite coal 🪨 and runs ~60% of its electricity ⚡️ on it, but there is the will for it. - Air Serbia 🇷🇸 could announce 📣 direct Miami International Airport flights by the end of this year, a big game changer for a region that doesn’t have direct flights. - the #lithium deposits in #Serbia 🇷🇸 are accounting for aorund 1.3% if world 🌍 reserves and are potentially allowing Serbia to build out a full value chain for #EV market that can establish its shops there. As for now Rivian has establish its R&D center in #Belgrade, and there is another manufacturer opening its shop there as well. - top investors is #Germany 🇩🇪🥇 and #Italy 🇮🇹 🥈 with heavy investments in #manufacturing with companies like Siemens Gamesa manufacturing wind turbines. #China🇨🇳 is 3rd 🥉 with heavy investments in energy sector https://lnkd.in/e4RGHW76 Reuters America has so far 6th position in the country with #FDI, but with its talent and #IT/#Computer skills Serbian could become part of higher value chains in software programming same as #Poland 🇵🇱 did. There are many more things to talk, but we will cover this in the future program at World Affairs Council of Miami under the Central and Eastern European program.

The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, in partnership with the Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium and others, welcomed representatives from the US Embassy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. We discussed developing stronger #MiamiSerbia business ties and connecting #Serbia and #Miami's #tech, #biotech, and #dualeducation sectors where synergies lie. We all agreed that the soon planned Miami-Belgrade Air Serbia flight will lay the groundwork for new and two-way opportunities. Thank you Ambassador Marko Djuric, Minister Counselor Dusan Kozarev, Minister Counselor Nebojsa Radojicic and Marko Bajic from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Serbia for visiting Miami-Dade County.
