🙌 How Kurk Lietuvai (Create Lithuania) drives lasting change. Every year, a new group of enterprising and hardworking professionals joins the program, each taking on a new challenge every six months. Determined to turn ideas into action by tackling key challenges for a better Lithuania. This time around, the first half has passed and participants delivered 11 projects, all essential for long-term resilience and growth. Nearly 40% focused on advancing Lithuania's green economy, while others addressed regulatory innovation, regional economic specialization and long-term economic sustainability. According to program lead Monika Merkytė: "Project managers were looking for ways to address the upcoming challenges related to climate change, an ageing population and increasing Lithuania's competitiveness. This is a future-oriented perspective that seeks long-term changes". Change doesn't happen overnight, but this initiative proves meaningful progress is always in motion. 🛡 Lithuania is not taking any chances on security. Increases defence spending to almost 4% of GDP. History has taught us that peace is only as strong as the ability to defend it. In 2025, Krašto apsaugos ministerija | Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania is allocating €3.22B for defence, bringing investment to 3.93% of GDP - nearly doubling NATO’s 2% benchmark. This will ensure that our borders remain secure, forces are equipped and allies can rely on us. With one of the highest defence budgets in NATO, Lithuania is proving that securing the future starts with action today. 🔒

💛💚❤️️ From surviving to thriving in 35 years. March 11th, 1990, marks Lithuania’s restoration of independence, but the fight for freedom began long before that. For 50 years, our nation endured soviet occupation, deportations and repression - yet we never surrendered. The world took notice on August 23, 1989, when 2 million people across Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joined hands in the Baltic Way, a 600 km human chain demanding freedom. A year later, Lithuania became the first soviet republic to declare independence. The cost of freedom was high. On January 13, 1991, soviet forces stormed Vilnius in a desperate attempt to crush our independence. 14 unarmed civilians lost their lives, but Lithuania stood firm. The message was clear - we would never be occupied again. 2004, Lithuania secured its place in the EU and NATO, ensuring security and opening doors to economic growth. Since then: ✔️ GDP per capita has tripled ✔️ Lithuania has joined the global leaders in fintech, cybersecurity and lasers ✔️ The country has transformed into one of Europe’s fastest-growing economies russia’s threats have not stopped, and neither has Lithuania. We have taken decisive steps to strengthen our resilience: ✔️ First in Europe to cut off russian gas (2022) ✔️ Disconnecting from russia’s electricity grid (2025) ✔️ One of Ukraine’s strongest supporters March 11th is our symbol of resilience, determination and progress. For a nation that endured russian oppression and occupation, March 11th symbolizes a free, independent and fearless spirit. We remember our past. We stand with Ukraine. And we prepare for the future. 💪

💪 Strong women, strong industries, strong Lithuania. Gender-balanced teams drive better decision-making, innovation and financial returns. In Lithuania, gender equality is a reality shaping the business landscape: ✅ 57% of STEM graduates in Lithuania are women, one of the highest rates in the EU. ✅ Nearly 40% of Lithuanian startups have at least one female co-founder. ✅ Ranked 9th globally for gender equality, Lithuania continues to close the gap where it matters. ✅ By 2026, at least one-third of leadership positions in public companies will be held by women. Women bring different perspectives to build better companies, stronger economies and more resilient industries. And Lithuania's progress is reflected in the people leading the way. 💛💚❤️️
