BAROCK Oil, Gas & Water: driven by Engineering Ingenuity   BAROCK Oil, Gas & Water B.V. is a young Dutch enterprise (Est. 2018) that over the past few years has been successfully developing into a brownfield engineering and debottlenecking contractor. At its core, it builds on 20 years of profound technological understanding and expertise of how to separate an always different composition of oil, gas & water and solids. Over the past few years, the engineering capabilities were successfully expanded to more downstream areas of the energy supply chain. It was recognised that diversification is important and necessary going into the future. Yet, continuously, an innovative separation technology portfolio is being expanded as brownfield engineering and retrofit opportunities are being seized. In our endeavours, we support and encourage other entrepreneurial minds and companies in the energy sector, such as North Sea Engineering (Est. 2023) and Energy Ventures B.V. (Est. 2021). Ian is correct that operational readiness is integral to the success of a project and needs to be considered through a systems engineering and project life cycle approach. Too often, projects which appear successful in that initial budgets and timelines are met, cannot meet nameplate output or operations and maintenance is far more costly than expected. Aker Solutions has secured an EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning) contract from Equinor to enhance the Troll A platform for increased gas production from the Troll West gas reservoir. The Troll field, located in the North Sea, is Norway's largest gas producer and supplies 10% of Europe’s gas. Troll Phase 3 involves extracting gas from eight new wells, with the gas processed on Troll A and transported through existing infrastructure. Aker Solutions' scope covers topside modifications and preparing equipment for the initial well fluids during start-up. The company played a key role in the first phase of Troll Phase 3, completed in 2021, and will now lead the second phase. Project management and engineering will take place in Stavanger, supported by offices in Bergen and Mumbai, while construction will occur at their Egersund yard. The project, including subsea work by OneSubsea, is set for completion by 2027. Aker Solutions continues its strong partnership with Equinor.
