In addition to the USDOT ADA standards, Accessibility Standards Canada is seeking feedback on their Standard on Emergency Measures. This already great document is available for public and review until the 17th. I've submitted a comment to include PEEPs, Personalized Emergency Evacuation Plans. These are maintained plans specific to vulnerable individuals. That way they (and/or their caretakers) can participate in the development of their own emergency plans. These plans have become much more common, especially after the Grenfell Tower Fire. Here's where you can read and submit your own thoughts: https://lnkd.in/gzma766z #AccessibilityMatters #AccessMatters #EmergencyPlanning #EmergencyServices #EmergencyPreparedness #AccessibleMeansofEgress #AccessibleDesign #AccessForAll

SWEP (Severe Weather Emergency Protocol) will be in place from Thursday 8th February 2024 until Friday 9th February. If you know anyone who may be rough sleeping please read this and share it. What is the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) and when is it triggered? When nighttime temperatures are forecast to be zero or below for 3 or more consecutive nights the Council, in line with central government expectations, makes emergency accommodation available to people who may otherwise have to sleep rough. How is this provision accessed in Kirklees? During office hours access to SWEP is only via the Housing Solutions Service following an assessment by a Housing Solutions Officer (HSO). Outside office hours access to SWEP is via Clare House (0300 304 7936) who will coordinate self-referrals and those facilitated by street outreach support. The Council’s Emergency Duty Service (01484 414933) can also deal with referrals by organisations such as the Police or Hospitals. https://lnkd.in/et3e_k9E
