Health Canada | Santé Canada At a recent virtual meeting with the Hon. and Esteemed CNO of Canada, Leigh Chapman, together with the head of Canada Federation of Nurses Unions, Linda Silas— one of the question asked during the Q & A, “Who has the oversight to ensure that the Nursing Retention Toolkit is adhered and adopted by health employers, and if there’s non-compliance, who has the oversight? However, the response from the CNO, did not really answer the question but instead, mentioned that “it is still an evolving process” w/c is a good sign. Having worked within the health system for over 20 yrs, we hate to break the news, that as it stands now, without any oversight, this is setting it up the Toolkit for failure, as there’s no accountability in place. It’s like praying, “I hope employers will adopt this toolkit” and hope for the best. Unfortunately, the work culture in Manitoba won’t guarantee the success of the Toolkit, given our experience and for many others, of the nuances of the workplace structure and culture. And “Thank You” for the well wishes! -from All of us at Institute for Healthcare Integrity of Canada IHIC #instituteHIC Chrystia Freeland Liberal Party of Canada • Parti Libéral du Canada Healthcare Excellence Canada #payettephenomena

#NursingNews: Nurses in Michigan have reported an improvement in working conditions, and fewer expressed interest in leaving the profession. Still — abuse, planned departure rates, and unsafe working conditions remained at high levels, according to a new study. “Changes in Registered Nurse Employment Plans and Workplace Assessments,” published July 18 in JAMA Network Open, compared results of the 2022 and 2023 Michigan Nurses’ Study. Results in this study are, in some instances, representative of nurses nationally, as discovered through a review of previous Nursing CE Central coverage. 🔗: https://hubs.la/Q02J5lLl0
