Nora's story proves the dire need for pediatric cancer research. She was diagnosed at ten months old with one of the most aggressive pediatric brain tumors. Due to a lack of research, there is no established protocol for treatment, which results in a survival rate of only 5% a year after diagnosis. The following four months were spent in and out of the hospital, receiving decades-old chemotherapy drugs that could not save her. We are dedicated to funding research and clinical trials to find less toxic, more effective treatments for childhood cancer. Learn how your donation will reduce the side effects of current treatments, improve survival rates, and give all children the future they deserve. https://lnkd.in/dekG8x46

Today we’re spotlighting another important awareness campaign – Brain Tumour Awareness Month. Launched in 2004 by the founders of Brain Tumour Research, this March celebrates its 20th anniversary. As one of the six cancers with the lowest survival rates, the campaign supports the work of the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce charities to improve outcomes for people with brain cancer. We’ve reunited with South East London Cancer Alliance to create an innovative bitesize learning module to support primary care staff in identifying and referring patients with suspected brain cancer. Building awareness among healthcare professionals is vital to catching the signs of cancer early and saving lives. #BrainTumourAwarenessMonth #BrainCancer #CancerEducation #CancerCare #LessSurvivableCancers #CloseTheGap

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Did You Know? 45% to 60% of women have dense breast tissue. Did You Know? If you have dense breast tissue a mammogram may not identify breast cancer up to 50% of the time. Did you Know? Medical insurance may not always cover the additional imaging such as an Ultrasound or MRI needed to complete your breast cancer screening if you have dense breast tissue Please donate at https://lnkd.in/e2DWUZxY so we can continue to fund supplemental imaging at no cost to the patient. All funds paid directly to the imaging provider, never to the patient.

🩷 Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Join the Fight! 🩷 Breast cancer impacts so many lives — it’s the most common cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the U.S. 1 in 8 women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime, and every year, an estimated 44,000 lives are lost to this disease. Yet, there is hope: with early detection, the 5-year survival rate rises to nearly 99%. At Cochrane Supply, we’re standing together in the fight against breast cancer this October. To show our support, we’re offering free “Fight Cancer” pink t-shirts at our counters all month long and donating 1% of our Friday Counter Sales to help support this cause. Get your tshit to raise awareness and encourage others to take action. Remember, knowledge and early screenings are our best tools in reducing these numbers. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #Pinktober

You might recognise a familiar face in the resource. That, of course, is to help people better understand (they can be easily misunderstood) brain tumours and that they aren't objective. It also sheds light on a younger person's experience with cancer, my perspective, and experience of having a brain tumour, as well as the significant effects the illness has had on my life and ways of coping. - There are around 12,300 new brain, other CNS and intracranial tumours cases in the UK every year - They are the cause of almost 5,500 deaths each year. This is projected to rise to 6,600 by 2038–2040 - Only around 11% with these tumours survive for ten or more years In the hopes of one day developing a cure, sharing a narrative and point of view helps alleviate some of the burden and helps others feel better about their diagnosis.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is vital. Breast cancer has a 98% survival rate in early detection. In its advanced stage, the survival rate drops down to 27%. We can put an end to this through regular self-checks and annual mammograms.💗 All donations to the The Breast Cancer Research Foundation this month will be matched 3x (tripled up to $80,000) in hour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🌟 Honoring Morgan's Legacy with a Breakthrough in Cancer Treatment 🌟 Yesterday, the first patient received a groundbreaking cancer vaccine developed from Morgan’s tumor, targeting one of the most aggressive forms of pediatric brain cancer. This achievement was made possible thanks to the support of our community and the dedicated researchers at UCLA Health - namely Dr. Anthony Wang and Dr. Linda Liau. As we approach the 5th anniversary of Morgan's passing, we are reminded of her incredible courage. Despite knowing her cancer would take her life, she offered her tumor for research, believing it would bring hope to others fighting to survive. Today, her vision is coming to life through this pioneering clinical trial at UCLA. This trial represents a new hope for young patients battling this cancer, just as Morgan had envisioned. To continue supporting this important work, please consider donating to the Morgan Johnson Gruenebaum Endowment Fund. Your contributions help further this research and keep Morgan’s spirit alive, bringing hope to families in need. For more details on the innovative vaccine and the research behind it, check out the overview from Dr. Anthony Wang and the latest UCLA Health article: https://lnkd.in/g3KVZzCt. Thank you for being part of this journey with us and for helping us carry Morgan’s legacy forward. #CancerResearch #PediatricCancer #UCLAHealth #MakingADifference
