When we started Pennant last year, we made a conscious decision to center ourselves around sustainability. Because there’s a two-fold truth that we’ve learned after partnering with numerous energy, greentech and other mission-driven organizations over the years: Sustainability always wins. And it’s not just the incredible work these pioneering companies are doing to support our planet and future generations – that’s the first, most important piece. There’s a second, much more business-y layer to it, which is that sustainability stories, when told well, make for incredibly effective marketing. So, we've crafted a ton of videos targeting that crucial mid-funnel audience about energy efficiency and sustainability, much to the delight of our clients and their customers. That’s how we, as marketing storytellers, are able to support and expand the important work they’re doing. Take Consigli Construction Co., Inc., for example. They’re a fifth-generation leader in construction management in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Right here in our backyard in Somerville, their teams are tackling two projects just a couple of miles apart, using innovative strategies to meet complex sustainability goals. Check out the video below to see these cutting-edge projects in action. For our fellow marketers, here’s the playbook: If your brand champions sustainability, make sure your audience knows it—because they probably care about it too. Creating content around this topic will help you connect with them. But here's the thing: don't just talk the talk without walking the walk. Avoid ‘greenwashing’ by ensuring your sustainability efforts are real and impactful. Transparency and authenticity are like a strong defense in sports—they build trust with your audience and lead to lasting relationships beyond the marketing hype. On two projects just two miles apart from each other in Somerville, our teams are using cutting-edge strategies to help clients achieve complex #sustainability goals. Boynton Gateway in Union Square and 74 Middlesex in Assembly Row are both pursuing advanced green building standards and employ a variety of innovative methods, such as collecting and repurposing rainwater and live, green roofs.
