Today, we were at the Slovenian coast, in the city of Koper, to be exact, where the conference on the municipal roads is taking place. The main discussion today revolved around different approaches to tackling the problem of speeding in populated areas.
The slide below is from our presentation, where we showed some interesting data collected during incognito speed measurements. The point of these types of measurements is not to penalize the drivers but to collect data on the ''natural'' behavior of drivers. One time, we detected a car driving 124 km/h in a densely populated village, where the speed limit is 30 km/h. In the event of emergency braking (i.e., someone crossing the road), the vehicle would likely stop somewhere in the middle of the village.
