It's been a hard year for the creative industry especially for the VFX Industry professionals and Artists that have been negatively impacted by the strikes that have resulted in massive job losses. It's important to keep a positive outlook in this time, even though it may be difficult as bills and debt keep pilling up. It's scary to not know where your next meal is going to come from, but I just want to say hang in there it won't be forever. I am not saying this from ignorance, as a person that grew up with nothing and often had to rational meals and go to bed on an empty stomach, I know first hand how that feels like, and how emotionally devastating it can be when you have people to provide for. Don't give up, keep moving, reach out to your network and ask for help. There are people who will be willing to help you, but you gotta reach out. It may be embarrassing to put out your personal business out here on LinkedIn, but if you are struggling and need the help please reach out, people would be more than willing to provide the needed help. If you are applying and are getting rejection letters, please know that it's not personal. It takes between 1-100 applications to get an interview. Job seekers who sent between 1-10 applications have a 61.7% of getting at least one interview, while those who sent 81 or more applications have an 85.2% chance. What do a great recruiter and Luke Littler have in common?🎯 An unexpected comparison for your Thursday morning but bear with me 😂 From my perspective (a newbie darts watcher) 'Luke the Nuke' is exceptional because he has the remarkable ability to precisely land his darts across the board, strategically achieving winning combinations 🏆 This is unique as most players are limited to specific winning moves like hitting treble 20s whereas Littler's adaptability allows him to excel regardless of where his darts land. Now ... this takes me to great recruiters 🥇 Effective recruiters possess a similar adaptability as clients often desire candidates comparable to the coveted "treble 20" in darts but these ideal matches aren't always readily available in the market. A good recruiter understands the need to adjust their strategy and criteria to secure the best fit for their clients. I’m really amazed how recruiters are posting applications for open roles and when the artists start applying or messaging the recruiters, then probably some of the artists get the answer “We’re looking for more experienced applicants”. There’s nothing wrong with this kind of an answer, but the most concerning thing about this is: AT LEAST YOU CAN LOOK AT THESE PEOPLE’S DEMO REEL BEFORE YOU GIVE THIS KIND OF AN ANSWER !!!!!! I made my demo reel private and set up a password, that’s on purpose, because I really want to know if the recruiters are watching my demo reel, or they just rejecting my application just like that without checking anything. I’ll say a few things for those kind of recruiters: SCREW YOOUU !!!! And stop doing this to the artists who are looking for a job, I don’t believe that we deserve this !!!!!
