We should create an environment where people are allowed to fail to build a resilient culture,’ shares Khurshed Dordi, MD & COO, Deutsche Bank. Embracing failure is the first step towards true resilience. It’s about creating a culture where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities, encouraging innovation, and fostering a mindset of continuous growth. #Leadership #ResilientCulture #ThriveConnect #DeutscheBank #GrowthMindset

Troy's insights emphasize the importance of a client-centered approach, which isn't just a short-term play—it's a long-term commitment that must be integrated into strategy to truly succeed. 🌟 Transforming Legacies: Bridging Change in Family Businesses 🌟 Last month, our head of sustainability & grains trader, Abhinav Vijay attended a closed-door business meeting organised by DBS Bank to share his insights into family business evolution. The event brought together family business leaders and experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities of navigating change in multigenerational enterprises. The evening began with an inspiring keynote, Catalysts of Change: Leading Organisational Evolution with Vision, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion, Bridging Change in #FamilyBusinesses. Being the second generational business leader in the company, Abhinav shared his take on: 🔹 Transitioning Leadership Roles Abhinav's leadership style was shaped by the openness and experience of his father, a leader with decades of business acumen. He emphasised the importance of carrying forward foundational values while carving out a unique path—especially by championing new priorities such as sustainability and ESG. 🔹 Building on Tradition While Innovating Embracing the wisdom of seasoned team members while fostering an inclusive and innovative environment is important. For example, forming a dedicated #ESG team to explore impactful initiatives demonstrates how family businesses can stay relevant and responsive to global challenges. The event concluded with a vibrant networking session, providing an invaluable opportunity to connect with peers, exchange insights, and share strategies for evolving businesses while preserving legacies. A big thank you to the organisers and speakers for shedding light on the intricacies of family business evolution. #FamilyBusiness #Leadership #Sustainability #BusinessEvolution #Networking

Enjoyed going to an event last week in real life, took the train over to Edinburgh to hear a great panel of speakers discuss how we all can learn from failures. What I really liked about the event was I felt apart of it, thanks to the format, use of Slido and a poll participation, and being able to ask questions all from the audiences's smartphones. QR codes also were used for getting us there easily and to provide our post even feedback via a survey. The team behind it made it look flawless and I can imagine the work that went into making it a big success. Over the years I've been to so many of these 'Women in Tech' events, saying and discussing the same old topics and unfortunately with some growth but still not enough, with 29% of females in tech roles, there is still alot of change to happen. At senior and board level its still a 80/20 split of male/ female diversity. The open discussion point was when the male panel member turned the discussion around. Mark Logan called out why these things are just not changing, it's because of society, the society we live in is sexist. Sexism is alive and well in everything, hiring, promotions, language used, gender bias and more. It will take generations to change sexist ways in our society but what if we all start there and start calling them out. It's the first time anyone at an event about fostering and support females has called this out - thank you! There was also many men in attendance at this event - why? I saw the big queue of recent graduates, junior talent in software engineering waiting to see if there were jobs for them. The market really is saturated and it showed what can you do differently from all the others? Turn up in real life to an event! #womenintech #leadership #sayinghowitis
Thank you to our incredible panel for an engaging discussion at last nights event in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group discussing how we learn from failures. Great advice and experiences shared by Rose Ulldemolins Ceri Shaw Angela Prentner-Smith (FRSA) Linda Scott Naomi Pryde and Mark Logan Key takeaways: 👉🏼 Some things are just ‘mistakes’ but we label them as ‘failures’ … we need to change the language we use 👉🏼 We need to push on the boundaries. Why are 5 year plans still a thing… we need flexibility to adapt! 👉🏼 reminded of the profound impact language has on shaping our perceptions of success and failure 👉🏼 the importance of reevaluating the narratives we tell ourselves. 👉🏼 crucial we recognise 'mistakes' as opportunities for growth rather than defining them as 'failures'. 👉🏼 mindset shift is essential for pushing the boundaries in tech and leadership. #WomenInTech #Leadership #GrowthMindset Silka Patel Ketty Lawrence Caroline McDowall Ola Clark Kayleigh Kavanagh Margaret Totten Ashley Beck Lianne McGrory
