📊 The Soaring Costs of Health Insurance: A 2023 Snapshot The 2023 KFF Employer Health Benefits Survey reveals a concerning trend: average annual premiums for employer-sponsored health insurance have surged to $8,435 for single coverage and $23,968 for family coverage. This represents a 7% increase from 2022, outpacing the previous year’s 4% rise. Over the last five years, premiums have climbed by 22%, and since 2013, the increase has been a staggering 47%. 🏢 Impact on Employers and Employees Employers are feeling the pressure, with 74% reporting that the cost of health benefits is the biggest challenge in offering competitive wages. As premiums grow, both businesses and employees face financial strain, with many turning to higher-deductible plans or reducing other benefits to offset costs. 📈 Deductibles and Out-of-Pocket Costs The average deductible for single coverage now stands at $1,735, nearly double the $826 average in 2009. With high deductibles and rising premiums, employees are shouldering more healthcare costs, leading to increased financial stress and potential delays in seeking necessary medical care. 🌐 Telehealth and Wellness Programs To counter these rising costs, many employers are expanding telehealth services and wellness programs. About 95% of large employers offer telehealth services, and wellness programs focusing on physical activity, weight management, and smoking cessation are becoming standard benefits. 🚀 Sovi Health Solutions At Sovi Health, we partner with employers to identify high-cost areas in their health plans and develop customized solutions. When nearly half of small businesses (47%) are self-reporting that a premium increase of 15%+ would "would make it impossible for them to offer healthcare coverage" there is an issue in our healthcare system. And the answer to that issue is not more #GovernmentMandates or removing tools employers are currently using to control costs. Employers have grown accustomed to seeing a double digit increase in their premiums for #employersponsored healthcare year over year. Now the system has created a very dangerous cliff that promises to harm both employers and employees if the status quo remains. This is a great option for both large and small businesses to provide health insurance benefits to their employees at a reduced cost to their bottom line. A few highlights from the report: - ICHRA adoption grew 29% year over year from 2023 to 2024. - 4 out of 5 businesses are renewing year over year. - 200+ employee businesses are the fastest growing ICHRA cohort at +84%.
