Speaker on Social Impact, Nonprofit Founder and Social Entrepreneur. We can design and work toward a better world for all.
Gen Z gets a bad rap, but some of the most popular stereotypes about this generation completely disregard another major aspect of this group: They are some of the fiercest changemakers out there. In my latest on YouTube, I wanted to showcase the stories, challenges and tips from young leaders who started nonprofits when they were teenagers: https://lnkd.in/e3xdPdsd Thanks, Sonali Ratnasinghe! #nonprofits #youngchangemakers #nonprofit #startinganonprofit #youtube

Have you ever been the recipient of the act of kindness? Maybe someone brought you a card when you are feeling low, or told you that you were pretty when you were feeling awful about yourself. Words and most acts of kindness do not cost anything but they do make a different. Simple things like: hold the door for someone, sharing your lunch, volunteering time to sit with someone, donating used items, saying please and thank you, be a listening friend, or just simply smiling. One simple jester creates a ripple, that can create big waves. To test this out, try it out once this week, then add more acts of kindness each week. Before long, you will stop keeping track of what you do but reap the rewards of how it makes you feel.

Policy Advisor @ DESNZ | Co-Founder and Chair @ Empower LATAM UK | Sir Francis Hill PhD Scholar @ University of Nottingham
Combining the Geography PhD researcher and the Charity Director parts of my life means one thing: Maps! 🗺 In this case, I used geographical information system (GIS) software to map the distribution of young people that Empower LATAM UK was able to help through our mentorship program in 2023. The size of the circle represents the number of mentees that lived in each city (more mentees means a larger circle). More than just being a nice visualisation, this type of analysis allows us to 1) see where in the UK we've had an impact, as well as 2) where we need to do more work. #datavisualization #maps #charity
Where in the UK are we having an impact? 🌍 At Empower LATAM UK, want to make sure that our work helping young Latin Americans reaches all parts of the UK (that's why it's in our name). Here's a figure showing where in the UK are the mentees that we helped through our Latin American Mentorship Program 2023. We look forward to seeing what the map for the 2024 programs looks like. 🗺 #charity #latinamericans #map
