The City That Never Sleeps, But Do We See All the Shadows? As a proud New Yorker, I can't help but feel a gnawing dissonance. We celebrate the Statue of Liberty's torch held high, a beacon of opportunity and equality. Yet, the reality for many women paints a different picture. Sexual violence casts a long shadow, statistics revealing 1 in 4 women will experience it in their lifetime. Is this the narrative we accept? Is this the "equality" etched on our iconic lady's tablet? We can't ignore the uncomfortable truth: progress hasn't reached every corner of our state. But here's the thing: silence fuels this shadow. That's why I'm calling for something radical: conversation. Yes, it'll be messy, awkward, and might challenge ingrained beliefs. But uncomfortable conversations are the birth pangs of progress. ️ Here's how you can be part of the change: Start at home: Talk to your sons, brothers, fathers. Challenge harmful stereotypes and empower them to be allies. Listen to survivor stories: Educate yourself on the diverse experiences of women. Amplify their voices, not just statistics. Support local organizations: Donate, volunteer, or attend events hosted by groups like NYSCASA reposted here. Speak up, even if it's shaky: Call out sexist jokes, challenge biased behavior, and hold yourself and others accountable. Don't shy away from debate: Engage respectfully, listen to understand, and bridge the gap with empathy. Remember, change starts with a ripple, not a roar. Every conversation, every action, adds to the wave of progress. Together, we can shine a light on the shadows and rewrite the narrative for women in New York. Let's make the conversation uncomfortable, but necessary. #NoMoreShadows #WomensRightsNY #StartTheConversation #UncomfortableTruth #NewYorkStrong

Former Assistant Vice President, Global Markets COO Office of Business Policy & Controls State Street Corporation 2016-2019
The time has come for American women, black and white, to unite behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the Presidency of the United States. Kamala Harris, the most experienced candidate in this election, embodies intelligence and leadership crucial for representing our nation globally. As parents, it's disheartening to witness insults towards Kamala Harris, a democratic candidate of remarkable caliber. We must reflect on the values we uphold and question the suitability of such behavior for the White House. Choosing a President demands a leader with intricate understanding, knowledge, discipline, and focus. Kamala Harris advocates for women's rights, particularly in crucial areas like abortion rights. Let's rally behind her to uphold the freedom of American women. Support the movement to elect Kamala Harris by contributing your time, resources, and energy to mobilize support. Together, let's demonstrate the unity and strength of American women by electing Kamala Harris to the White House. This election presents a chance to drive significant change. #electkamalaharris #americanwomen #election2024

The 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act is a moment to reflect on the immense progress made in advancing equality and justice for all. This landmark legislation, signed into law in 1964, outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, and paved the way for a more inclusive and equitable society. While we have come a long way, we must also acknowledge that THE FIGHT FOR TRUE EQUALITY IS FAR FROM OVER. There is still much work to be done to address systemic racism, inequities, and barriers that continue to marginalize and oppress communities of color. As we celebrate this milestone, let us rededicate ourselves to the unfinished work of the civil rights movement. By standing united, amplifying diverse voices, and taking action to dismantle oppressive systems, we can honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. #1964CivilRightsAct #60Years #CivilRights #Equality #EqualityMatters

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗨𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻 Many in power are well aware of the damage caused by 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 and the harm inflicted by 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 towards men. Yet, whenever someone dares to raise their voice, they are quickly attacked by a well-funded lobby of 𝘁𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. This lobby, 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 and corporate houses with vested interests in breaking families, 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 to 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀. These toxic feminists have a playbook—attack, demean, and label anyone who speaks for men. Whether it’s labeling them as 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗴𝘆𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 or accusing them of supporting 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝘆, they rely on these terms to silence those who expose their 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮. But it’s time to break the silence. Dear men, it’s time to stand up against their 𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮. It’s time to raise our voices for the 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗻 who have suffered for centuries. In my career, I've learned that while surpassing business goals and achieving professional milestones are important, these are not the ultimate measures of success. It’s about being on the right side of history, making decisions that allow you to face yourself in the mirror and sleep peacefully at night. Today, I want to talk about an initiative that embodies this philosophy: "My Voice. My Choice." This pan-European citizens' iniciative is dedicated to ensuring safe and accessible abortion for all women across the EU. We're at a critical point where we need one million signatures to move forward with legislation at the European Parlament level that can make a profound difference. Your support is crucial. Sign digitally and let your voice be a beacon of change: 👉https://lnkd.in/eqGppbqu Let's stand together for women rights, for justice, and for a better tomorrow.

Dear Society, In a world where equality should reign, we often see imbalances that pierce the hearts of those striving tirelessly. When a woman is celebrated for her hard work, it is a triumph against the odds, a beacon of hope that progress is possible. Yet, in our rush to correct historical injustices, we sometimes forget that appreciation knows no gender. Imagine the man who labors just as fervently, whose sacrifices are unseen, whose efforts go unrecognized. His hands bear the same calluses, his heart the same dedication. Yet, he watches silently as his contributions are overshadowed, as if his hard work is less worthy of acknowledgment. This silent suffering creates a new kind of disparity, a painful reminder that fairness is still a distant dream. Every human being, regardless of gender, deserves to feel valued and appreciated. Let us not trade one injustice for another, but instead, embrace a world where every individual's efforts are honored. Only then can we truly claim to have built a just society.

Humanity Highlights: What Are Human Rights? - An Overview I’m excited to kick off my new weekly series, 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨, where we dive deep into human rights and activism. There’s no better place to start than the beginning: 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔? Human rights are the fundamental rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death. These rights are based on values like dignity, fairness, equality, respect, and independence. They are universal, meaning they apply to everyone, everywhere, regardless of nationality, gender, ethnicity, religion, or any other status. But how did these rights come to be recognized? 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 - 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 1. Magna Carta (1215): Often cited as one of the first steps towards the concept of human rights. It established the principle that everyone, including the king, was subject to the law. 2. The Declaration of Independence (1776): Asserted the inalienable rights of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." 3. Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948): Adopted by the United Nations, it set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected. 4. The Civil Rights Movement (1950s-1960s): In the United States, it fought for the end of racial segregation and discrimination against African Americans. 5. International Human Rights Treaties: Various treaties, such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), continue to expand and enforce human rights globally. 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕? Understanding the history and foundation of human rights is crucial because it highlights the ongoing struggle and progress towards ensuring dignity and equality for all. It's a reminder that the fight for human rights is far from over, and each of us has a role to play in advocating for and protecting these rights. ʟᴇꜱꜱᴏɴ: Human rights are the cornerstone of a just and equitable society so we need to celebrate these milestones and continue to fight for the rights and freedoms of all individuals. Ps: Repost if you find this useful so others can find it useful as well ♻️ #HumanityHighlights #HumanRights #SocialJustice #Equality #Activism
