Retail media in grocery is hot stuff right now! It’s not new, but certainly in the UK where we’ve seen significant changes to in-store layouts and promotional space post HFSS, we’ve seen new opportunities opening up. In-store digital displays and screens is one example. Multi-screen displays at the end of power aisles, displays on gondola ends and mid-aisle screens are all popping up in-store. Like all media in-store, it can be hard for these to get cut-through. Location is one of the most important factors which drives successful execution. Here’s a great example from Ireland: I came across this Haleon display in a Musgrave SuperValu store in Cork. I’ve never seen this type of digital display before but it was really effective despite its size! It’s position right on the shelf edge (eye-level) and simple text-flashing functionality caught my attention. I’m not sure about the durability or longevity of these types of displays, but the less is more approach intrigued me! Have you come across this type of POS before?
