How does thinking about outcomes improve agility in execution? That's the topic of this 2 mins video. The #OKR framework is so helpful because of it's emphasis on #outcomes. In day to day life, when we set an objective, the next logical step is to jump to the "how". For example, we say I want to improve my fitness (objective). Then we jump to - I'll go to the gym, start running etc. without ever stopping to consider, what do we mean by "improve fitness"? Without making it measurable. If we added a step after defining the objective of stating measurable outcomes of success, we might say (for example) - reduce my resting heart rate from average 70bpm to 60bpm by X date, or Reduce the time it takes to recover my resting heart rate after swimming 50 lengths from 2 mins to 1 min by X date Now that you have these outcomes defined, you can take actions which are likely to produce those results and you can build / measure / learn and correct course as you progress. Then you know as you progress whether you're moving the needle on something that truly matters :)

When the gym bro’s give me a hard time about my choice of exercises, this is what I tell them. Sure I want to be strong and build muscle, and I train for both, but ultimately I want to be “dad strong”. I want to be functional in my own life and be physically able to do whatever my kids need of me (for as long as possible).
