Calling All Brands and Supporters: Let’s Make a Difference Together for #LAFIRE Charities... Recently, my wife and I discussed ways to support charities aiding those affected by the devastating LA fires. It made me reflect on how I could do more. At Thropic Games, I’m proud to be part of a team that dedicates at least half of our efforts to charitable causes. Today, we’re taking action. Within the next 24 hours, our team will build a College Football National Championship Game to benefit charities supporting #LAFIRE victims. But we need your help. We urgently seek a brand sponsor to join this initiative and promote it to amplify its impact. All proceeds from the sponsorship and game play will go directly to #LAFIRE charities. By working together and crowdsourcing, we aim to address this pressing need quickly. 📩 Interested in sponsoring or supporting? Contact me at Peter@ThropicGames.com. 💡 Know a charity making a real difference? Please share their details using a link in the comments. We’ll select one or more charities to receive the funds raised. Let’s come together as a community to make this happen. Every like, share, and repost will help us make a difference. Once the game is live, we’ll share it here so everyone can join and support the cause. Thank you for helping us turn this vision into reality. Together, we can create meaningful differences for numerous charities today and in the future. #GameForGood #LAFIRE #CharityGaming #CrowdsourcingForGood

Register for the 2025 Playing for the Planet Green Games Jam! 🎮 💚 This year’s Green Games Jam will focus on ‘nature,’ and Playing for the Planet, which Video Games Europe is an Alliance member of, encourage studios to: 1) build themed content into games that teaches as many players as possible about nature and the environment, and/or 2) build an activation that motivates players to sign a pledge asking world leaders to prioritise and double down on their commitments to nature, and/or 3) donate a percentage of revenue from these activations to a nature-based charity of your choice. By mobilising individuals, governments and businesses to show each other that we care, we will showcase the importance of collective decisions in finding solutions to the nature crisis. Sign-up to the Green Games Jam: https://shorturl.at/MR2Qu (deadline 31 January). #VideoGames #VideoGamesEU #GreenGamesJam #GGJ2025

Who says video games can’t be art? This weekend, we’re sponsoring a charity event for #stjudes , and part of the charity event is an award show! For the award show, we put together small pieces of content like this one for games. The game seemingly looks like a plain cowboy game. Red Dead Redemption 2 tells a story of how a gunslinger may spend his last days, knowing his time is coming to an end. #RedDeadRedemption2 #videogameediting #videoediting #videography

I’m a reflector. I like to let things settle. To sleep on things. Mull and cogitate. So now it’s been four full weeks since our Charity Gaming safari, I’ve had plenty of time for the insights to crystallise and to see what’s stuck… And the biggest charity sector insight I’m taking from it is: Don’t chase the money! Gaming is a vast market. There are 44 million gamers in the UK. This is a market big enough to help charities deliver their missions, as well as raise funds. As Jude Ower MBE from PlayMob said, start with your mission and the money will follow. Erik Londré from Karta shared a great example. Ronald McDonald House in Sweden created a virtual experience in Roblox that enabled kids to connect virtually with their friends and family in everyday life, helping them recover while still in hospital. https://lnkd.in/epKGxj3R Some other take-aways: - Gaming isn’t one audience and you can’t lump gaming and gamers into one segment. You need to segment and decide who you want to target and why. Move past the sterotypes of who plays being Gen Z and Alpha, male, etc. - It’s all about authenticity, which means you need people in your teams who understand these spaces, audiences and activations. Don’t rely on one team member with a Twitch account to be your gaming oracle. - Don’t be scared of development. Low-code and no-code solutions mean you can create your own content cheaply and relatively easily. And if you do decide to chase the money… - At the moment charities are taking what they know works in sponsorship and community and transferring this into gaming, mostly as sponsored streams. But this activation suffers the same giving fatigue that offline channels currently suffer from. - There is so much more potential around gaming to generate income through creative strategic partnerships, and around-gaming activities, alongside NPD. Watch the video - unlike this post, it’s short … https://lnkd.in/eYzZmrjM

Last Friday, the Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games Society announced that approximately $200,000 in legacy funds has been awarded to three initiatives that will benefit the community for years to come. 📰 https://lnkd.in/gawdeXBw Legacy funds come from the generosity of the business community in supporting the Games with cash and in-kind contributions, merchandise sales, and the sound financial management of the volunteers who led the Games. The funding is in addition to funds provided through the Powering Potential Fund, which supported a number of local projects before the Games, including the biathlon range at Hallis Lake and the slopestyle course at Troll Mountain.

Day 46 of 100 Days of Games of Chance in Kenya. The CSR from Games of Chance gave rise to the Non Governmental Organisation Movement in Kenya. Today’s article is from July 25th 1967. It talks about how the general public has ‘hardened’ to charity/contributions because of being bombarded by requests for cash contributions in the streets, restaurants, bus stops, offices and public spaces of major towns in the country. The article celebrates the structure of the Kenya Charity Sweepstakes and how the Kenya Government had formed the Kenya National Council for Social Services, which required all charitable bodies to register to it and which ensured there was no duplication of charities. Kenya Charity Sweepstakes in offering lotteries for purposes of funding charities - in my opinion - created an entire industry that we now know as Non Governmental Organisations who are primarily charity/not for profit and are governed by Non Governmental Organisations ( NGO) Board of Kenya. https://lnkd.in/dvqd5e5m
