Our advocacy team has been making progress on key criminal justice priorities, including the Federal Prison Oversight Act.
Hear from Prison Fellowship Mission Ambassador Jermaine Wilson about this dynamic Day of Action.
Gone are the days when angels opened the prison for Peter to escape; that age is no longer with us. God has entrusted the power and the process to us. Angels will not review the court documents to vindicate the innocent; He has given us the commandment to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. It is now our duty to identify those people.
How do you address injustice in your community? Nothing works until you
push it. Dr. Sam Adeyemi said, "There are some things that God will not do for you; angels will not construct a road for you." Dr. Mike Murdock said in his book "Discover Your Purpose," "Your assignment is to bring relief for those in pain, to heal those who are hurt." We are to live for others. What do you do when problems present themselves to you?
I can choose not to do it, but if I don't and I have the power to do so, the problem remains unsolved.
One of the most troubling issues of justice is injustice. The families of incarcerated individuals are experiencing unimaginable pain. Who will console a woman who had two children, one imprisoned for a crime he claims he knows nothing about for eleven years, and in the midst of fighting for his freedom, the second child dies? Who will console a woman with two grown sons in prison for 14 years with no hope of their return, and in the midst of that, she loses her daughter to sickness?
What will be the fate of these individuals after enduring a lengthy trial, only to be set free due to lack of evidence? Many of these people have not been to court since June and are abandoned in prison without hope.
What are the bottlenecks holding them down? The judge has been transferred again. Do you apportion blame to the judge? Absolutely not! Many cases have reached the final writing stage in court, but the state counsel has not been able to present their brief. Some cases are at the final stage of defense, with the state counsel always present in court, but the witnesses refuse to show up. Just when the judge is supposed to be available in court, news comes that they have been transferred to another court in a different town. This is how the case is moved along with the trial judge into 3 prisons. This is how the prisoners are also moved from one prison to another. This process alone is enough to discourage the witnesses. In most cases, when you are advocating for reform, it is not the people who need reform, but the system that needs to be reformed.
This is where we come in to urge the Attorney General and the Chief Judge to review the cases before them and find lasting solutions to end these injustices. Another December is approaching, and as we celebrate the festive season, let us remember those who are suffering unjustly and see how we can bring healing to them.

We are at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri today teaching human trafficking investigations to officers, deputies, probation, social services and child advocacy. This class teaches the officers how to properly investigate these types of cases using the Special Victims Methodology, how to and where to locate evidence, including financial evidence and how to get the case through prosecution. #humantrafficking#police#policetraining#training#lawenforcement

Law enforcement officers play a crucial role in keeping our communities safe, often without the recognition they deserve. Here are three ways they make a difference every day:
1️⃣ Ensuring Public Safety: Officers are on the front lines, responding to emergencies and preventing crime, ensuring that our neighborhoods remain secure and our families protected.
2️⃣ Community Engagement: Beyond their duty, many officers engage with the community through outreach programs, building trust and fostering positive relationships that strengthen our social fabric.
3️⃣ Crisis Management: From natural disasters to public health crises, law enforcement teams are vital in coordinating responses and providing critical support when it’s needed most.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the dedication and bravery of these unsung heroes. 👏
