Paul G. Allen Family Foundation’s Post

Sharks are in desperate need of journalists who understand the peril they are facing and the importance of their survival to our ocean's ecosystems. We need less sensational stories about shark bites, more on the fact that sharks are one of the most threatened taxa in the WORLD, second only to amphibians. To support this effort to encourage awareness about sharks, we've produced a media guide with facts, data, and terminology compiled by a variety of shark conservation organizations and experts. We need to tell the true story about sharks; that if we don't act now, we could reach a tipping point within the next 10 years. This team completed the first global reef shark survey in 2020, revealing that many sharks are functionally extinct in reefs across the globe.

A distressing situation not correctly fore-fronted by journalists nor US Gvmnt leaders as international populations of sharks (and whales) are desecrated.
