The research highlights the importance of teacher self-efficacy, which is the belief in one’s ability to teach effectively. While there is a moderate relationship between language proficiency and self-efficacy, it’s not the sole determinant. This suggests that teachers should not solely rely on their language skills but also focus on other aspects of teaching. Classroom management and student engagement strategies are emphasized as equally important. These skills can significantly impact a teacher’s confidence and effectiveness in the classroom. The research also acknowledges the diversity of World Englishes and how teachers’ perceived language abilities can vary depending on different situations. This calls for a tailored approach to teacher training that is sensitive to the specific needs of the educational setting.

The marriage of a well-designed language allocation plan in multilingual classrooms and grade level subject instruction makes for a successful union. A well-designed language allocation plan considers factors such as language proficiency levels, learner or user needs, available resources, cultural considerations, and organizational goals. It helps ensure equitable language access, efficient resource allocation, effective communication, and successful language-initiatives within a specific context. Grade level instruction is essential in the multilingual classroom as it promotes academic, language, social, and cognitive development. It ensures educational equity and prepares multilingual students for future success. By providing instruction at their grade level, educators support the holistic growth of multilingual students and empowers them to reach their full potential.
