Incredibly insightful session with Dan Mendelson, CEO of Morgan Health, during our commercial kick-off following the HealthComp and Virgin Pulse merger. Particularly inspiring was Dan's focus on health equity. In our position as a plan administrator, wellbeing, and digital navigation company, we cannot treat every member equally and assume that the rest of the care delivery system will do the same. Quite the opposite, we have an obligation to address the biases in downstream care delivery by personalizing our engagement approach to each individual. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining Chris Michalak at the Virgin Pulse commercial kick-off meeting in Savannah, GA, for a discussion on the top priorities in employer-sponsored health care in 2024, including managing drug costs, enhancing digital engagement and strengthening care coordination. Virgin Pulse is the world’s largest software-enabled health and well-being solution provider, serving a broad majority of national health plans and a diverse group of Fortune 500 employers. The energy in the room was palpable as the team kicks off their first full year since merging with HealthComp in late 2023. I look forward to the continued acceleration and growth of this newly combined organization as they make health care easier to navigate for the millions of patients they serve. During the holidays, I had the opportunity to read "Good to Great" by Jim Collins. Collins and his team classified both Abbott and Walgreens as "Great" companies. One of the key concepts discussed in the book is the Hedgehog Concept, which focuses on a business's passion, expertise, and economic engine. After reading about Walgreens, I couldn't help but think about their recent entry into clinical trials and CVS Health’s decision to wind down their clinical trials business. I am curious to know if anyone else has read the book. Do clinical trial services align with Walgreens' Hedgehog Concept? Craig Lipset, what do you think? ✨ Grateful to Aenta Better Health of Illinois for the incredible opportunity to speak on the panel at the 2024 ABHIL Value-Based Care Summit! ✨ It was an honor to join industry leaders and providers to discuss how we can collaboratively transform health care through value-based care models. During the panel, we explored key topics essential to advancing mental health care: - **Integration of Behavioral Health and Primary Care:** We discussed effective strategies for integrating behavioral health services into primary care settings to improve patient outcomes and best practices for coordinating care between primary care providers and behavioral health specialists. - **Data-Driven Approach:** The role of data analytics in identifying and managing behavioral health populations within Medicaid and leveraging predictive modeling to proactively address behavioral health needs were highlighted. - **Access to Care:** We explored strategies to increase access to behavioral health services for Medicaid members and how telehealth and innovative solutions can bridge gaps in care, especially in underserved areas. - **Addressing Stigma and Disparities:** Successful initiatives in reducing stigma associated with seeking behavioral health care and addressing health disparities to ensure equitable access to services for all Medicaid members were shared. At Brave Health, we believe in the power of collaboration to expand access to mental health care. By partnering with other providers, we strive to ensure that more individuals receive the support they need.
