This past year - I advocated to switch roles. Don’t get me wrong I love working at American Underground and with a powerhouse team Maya Sugg, Courtney High, Tim Scales - but I needed change, new challenges, and to be reconnected back to community versus managing properties. Here’s what that change allowed: 👉 Partnerships with Fidelity Center for Applied Technology®(FCAT), 2ndF, Google, Hutchison PLLC and Knox St. Studios to run programming for start up founders (with a few more to come). 👉 Creation of a NEW program - The FCAT Fellowship (deadline this week, see below for more info) to support more diverse tech founders. 👉 The ability to meet with alumni to redesign Black Founders Exchange (it’s coming back y’all! - Jan 2025) 👉 Space to personally start investing in relationship with ecosystems partners and individuals, that make the Triangle startup community what it is today. 🔆On personal note - the ability to invest in personal interests like birth and postpartum doula care, gardening, and momming 24/7. Did I mention we just had another little human?! 👩🏻🍼👏 All that to say - change can be a good thing. It’s okay to say the thing you need and to advocate for change. Who knows what might happen if you take the leap!
Don't miss the application deadline for the FCAT Fellowship at the AU, powered by the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology®(FCAT)! Applications are due September 5 at https://lnkd.in/e8cmUQxx

Day 2 of URISA_International LEAP conference brought some of the best topics, especially the importance of data interoperability with CAD Systems. Great discussion about one of my burning questions... will CAD vendor software align with NENA NG9-1-1 standards? How will that impact GIS workflows and data maintenance? How will that influence operational change management from a telecommunicator perspective? Important conversations for a future that is approaching quicker than you think!
URISA's virtual LEAP conference continues today with important education at a great value! https://lnkd.in/ghUk5qsk Brooks Shannon, ENP Eric Shreve

Impact on Smaller Conferences The NCAA's proposed governance changes, which favour the Power Four conferences, have sparked concern among smaller conferences. These smaller entities fear that the new structure could marginalize them and reduce their influence in decision-making processes. The Power Four's push for more control underscores the growing divide between the top conferences and the rest of Division I. This potential shift could have far-reaching implications, potentially widening the gap in resources and opportunities between larger and smaller schools. #NCAA #CollegeSports #PowerShift

Exciting keynote from Michael T. Moe at ASU+GSV Summit! Here are some thought-provoking insights he shared: In 2010, there were 160M students in higher education globally. Today, that number has risen to 245M. By 2030, it is projected to reach 414M. Currently, the three largest cities in the world are in Asia: Tokyo, Delhi, & Shanghai. Looking ahead, by 2100, the three largest cities globally will shift to Africa: Lagos, Kinshasa, and Dar es Salaam. Michael highlighted concerning trends among youth: 40% of 12th graders find it challenging to maintain hope in the world. 57% of Gen Z individuals frequently use prescription medication. The percentage of teens experiencing loneliness has more than doubled to 40% in the last 30 years. Adolescent suicide rates have tripled. These statistics underscore the importance of understanding and addressing the evolving challenges facing our youth and the global education landscape.
